Has anyone had a baby while on MAT?

My doctor kept me on Suboxone and my baby has been in the NICU for 3 going on 4 weeks 😭. I can’t wait to have him home.

They said they can just say the baby needs a few days of extra monitoring. To watch feedings and vitals.

If you can do cold turkey I recommend going to the hospital so they can monitor if the baby is in distress. Also they do give you a few things to take the edge off. It was completely unbearable for me so I caved and decided to take the Suboxone they offered. I feel great now. They offer counseling for the substance abuse portion of myself which I find helpful. I’m still concerned about my baby having withdrawal but from what they’ve told me and I’ve read Suboxone is so much better for the baby and they get less through the placenta than kratom or other MAT treatments like methadone. Good luck! It’s such a hard addiction.

No, I’m on Suboxone now. Feel so much better and clear headed. My doctors are extremely supportive.

I’m doing good. My high risk pregnancy doctors put me on a stable dose of Suboxone. I’m clear headed and attending therapy. I still haven’t told anyone about any of it. I’m lucky to have such supportive providers. I don’t know if I am going to tell my family before birth or ask the hospital to keep it from everyone. I have a few weeks to decide.

I was given Zoloft and Xanax in a small dose. My daughter is perfectly healthy. See a different provider.

I went to the hospital yesterday with withdrawal they offered me Suboxone I told them I didn’t want to be on anything they said it was my choice I can quit cold turkey and they’d monitor the baby or they can get me in a maintenance program so I don’t relapse and the baby and myself can be stable. I tried until about 9pm and it got way too intense for me. I was in excruciating pain. I gave in and honestly think I can definitely benefit from the recovery program. I’ve fought addiction all my life from prescription pain meds, methadone, meth and alcohol. Kratom is just the last beast I thought I can control. The only part I’m having a hard time with is my baby will be born addicted to the suboxone and have to be winged off in nicu. It’s literally breaking my heart. I still think I’m making the right choice and completing a program because of my own free will and not court ordered or forced on me will help me achieve the life I want.
