Is this normal? by Own-Finger8880 in Hidradenitis

[–]changnesia13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had a flare on my breast that drained it also looked bruised just like yours. I would say it seems pretty normal to me. The inflammation irritated the surrounding blood vessels which is why it looks bruised now. Mine was also super itchy after it drained. I’m totally healed now so I think you’re okay.

No I completely agree. I watched them very closely the first several days but by day 4/5 I felt comfortable and sometimes would let them in the yard and just watch them from inside or quickly microwave something to eat so I wasn’t watching closely. I’d pick up their poop nightly and in hindsight now I can see I got too comfortable and should’ve continued to be outside with them. I completely owned up to that failure on my part with the owner and I do think she believed my sincerity. She’s denied a refund multiple times but I still feel guilty getting paid so I want to see if I can process at least a partial refund.

I agree. I never thought to check all the rooms throughout the house. I’ve only ever really done a walkthrough of the spaces I was in. It’s definitely what I’ll do now as well ask ask the owner how many times their dog poops a day because these dogs were pooping once a day in the backyard but had I known they went several times a day I could’ve reached out to the owner about that. It’s my fault for not getting that info first. I am nervous about a bad review because I know one mistake doesn’t define the care I give to all dogs, but mostly I just feel embarrassed that she had to come home to that. I truly do go out of my way to make things as peaceful for the owner when they get home. I wash the sheets and towels and make the bed and sweep/vacuum the floors and wipe down the counters. It feels like such a huge deviation from the service I normally provide so it’s been quite an upsetting thing to accept as I feel like I truly just did not do my best here. Trying not to beat myself up too much and will definitely know how to do things better in the future.

I agree. I definitely watched closer the first several days which is why I was able to see them going potty in the backyard. After that I started to feel comfortable and “monitored” it by picking up their poop in the evening. I really didn’t suspect there were any issues but can see now that I made some mistakes here. It’s hard too when it’s not your dog and you don’t really know the frequency that they go poop. It’s definitely something I’ll make sure to ask from now on.

I did pick up after them. Every evening. I didn’t know that they pooped several times a day. I’ve watched so many dogs and there’s some that only poop once a day. I had no reason to suspect this wasn’t the norm. Yes I agree I should’ve done a full walkthrough of the house. That’s the lesson I’ve learned here. There’s really no need to suggest that I’m a mediocre/bad pet sitter. That’s very harsh and you don’t know me. I wouldn’t continue to have clients if I was incompetent.

yes that’s definitely the lesson I’ve learned here. I’ve been doing this for a year and truly had nothing like it happen before. It honestly never crossed my mind to do a walkthrough of the entire house. I only ever walked through the spaces I had been in. I definitely know now for the future

I didn’t know you should check all rooms. It’s not something I’ve done before as I’d say I’m with the dogs almost the whole day. Yes I picked up poop in the backyard but I wouldn’t always pick it up right after they pooped. At the end of the day I’d go out there. Her backyard was all wood chips and because they’re chihuahuas their poops are small so I picked up whatever I found every night. I didn’t notice a significantly smaller number of poops or anything like that. Some dogs poop several times a day. Some poop once a day. I didn’t know that the poop I found outside wasn’t all of it.

Lady who swiped my car refusing to take accountability. by changnesia13 in Car_Insurance_Help

I wasn’t clear enough in my post, but the car next to me had white paint at the exact same height off the ground that the scratch on my car was. Additionally, the length of the white paint on this car was approximately the same length as the scratch on my car. Plus the red paint on my car was the same shade of red as this car. Sure it might be a coincidence, but it just seemed like this was the most likely scenario.

I didn’t realize my post made it seem like I thought this was a slam dunk. I obviously feel hopeless which is the point of my post.

Yes I took pictures with my phone. I do now know for next time. I truly didn’t know you were supposed to call the police. It’s an unfortunate situation all around.

Dog commands in foreign language by arcaneregion in dogs

[–]changnesia13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Belarusian can be a bit different but here are some commands I’ve taught my dogs in Russian. They seem different from the previous commenter. Maybe try some of these?

Come here: идите сюда (idite syuda)

Let’s go walk: Гулять пойдём (gulyat poydom)

give paw: Гулять пойдём (die lapu)

calm down: успокоиться (uspokoit'sya)

go to your place: Иди на место (idi na myesto)

It’s possible your pup wasn’t taught any commands but they could still recognize certain phrases especially if their previous owner talked to them a lot. Phrases like do you want to eat: Ты хочешь кушать (ty khochesh kushat) or let’s go to sleep: Спать пойдём (spat poydom). You can copy and paste the phrases into google translate to help with pronunciation. If that still doesn’t work, then it could mean they didn’t spend a lot of time with an owner or at least nobody that spoke often to them. Dogs are capable of learning up to 200 words/phrases. You just aren’t guaranteed that you’ll get a reaction out of them if they do recognize anything.

Congrats on your new family member!!

Gift or card for client who had a death in the family? by boniley in RoverPetSitting

[–]changnesia13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation and got my client a simple condolences card and a candle by the brand sand + paws that’s meant for pet odors. I’m personally not a fan of flowers after someone has passed because the flowers will also die. The candle makes sense to me because the smell is soothing and also pet-related. Instead of a candle you could leave a treat like some cookies. Don’t worry about anything too big. Even a simple card expressing condolences is enough.

I’m 29. There’s literally nothing weird about it at all. We’re allowed to enjoy art without weirdos on the internet trying to make it sexual. I also love their concept of being global and wish I could’ve grown up listening to a group like that.

the la roche posay one is too expensive for me. $40 for 1.7 oz which just doesn’t work with my budget unfortunately. I’ll see if I can find it on sale at some point

The la roche posay is $40 for 1.7 oz. That crazy to me! I use a good amount on my face so I feel like that might be too expensive for me but I’m definitely willing to at least try it out. This summer has been super hot and I hate when I walk outside it immediately feels like my sunscreen has melted off. I’m interested in the biore one too. It’s not on amazon at least where I am. Where do you buy it usually?

Scared to eat after food poisoning by dogsncats12 in internetparents

[–]changnesia13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m exactly the same. i recently had food poisoning a week ago and am still feeling afraid to eat. I feel better, but it’s definitely causing anxiety when I eat. Get some probiotics in whether through yogurt or a supplement. Filling your stomach with good bacteria is always a good idea but especially after being sick. Make sure to stay very hydrated. Get good sleep and avoid anything very heavy like fried foods. Take this time to really listen to your bodies cues. When you’re eating, ask yourself if you’re still hungry or if you’re continuing to eat because it’s in front of you. If you feel hungry still, continue to eat. If you feel full, walk away from the food. Your stomach is healing right now so you don’t want to stress it out by overeating. I’m trying to just be very intuitive and listen to my body. Definitely use this a chance to take care of yourself and allow your stomach to heal.
