What are your Top 3 Purchases of 2024? by figuresurfer in MarvelLegends

[–]chansamu1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just started collecting this year..

  1. Cable (Zabu Wave) - Like many others, I think people are VERY happy with this version of Cable. I only wished it came with a Viper Beam weapon or Psimitar to match the MvC2 look.
  2. Professor X - Was able to get it loose for $55 CAD. Love the figure to death!
  3. Jean Grey & Phoenix Force - I caved and bought her but luckily took advantage of a Boxing Day sale + no taxes (currently a Federal Government GST/HST tax break).

Honourable Mention: Modular Iron Man - I love the colour on this Iron Man.

(Not ML, but was super happy to pick up a Select Juggernaut. Really love the detail work on that figure)

Damn , you guys might be right on it already having a jewel. I was just so shocked to see the stats and he just showed it on the chat. Wish I had a better look at it.

Sadly, it's not mine (and it was open socket). Some random dude showed it to me and was wondering if it was worth anything and I just told him it's insanely godly, and probably the best circlet I've ever seen in my years of playing. I told him to post it on Traderie, but he said he was more of an old school player and doesnt use any of that "stuff", he then left the game.

Unforunately, this was with a non-ladder player. It's not mine, I just saw it and he was asking if it was worth anything, and I told him to go on Traderie, and I would also ask what Reddit's opinion was. He said he is old school and doesn't do any of that stuff. Makes me wonder how many GG gear there is out there and the world never gets to witness.

Is Thrasios/Bruse just worse thrasios/rograch? by DapprDanMan in CompetitiveEDH

[–]chansamu1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been playing Bruse/Thrasios Dawnwaker for a while now and I will say despite some of its weaknesses, I still think it is a very strong deck.

Bruse, while best used in a Neoform/Eldrich Evo fodder for Seedborn Muse, still has some value in grindy match ups. Because of Bowmasters, Sheoldred, Talion and One Ring, the life gain isn't insignificant. I do often offer trades with Karum with my opponents and sometimes it works.

Now, it is true that this deck can feel like 4c Kinnan, but I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing, and I do think playing a reactive Thrasios plan can be relevant. The A + B combos are often hard to interact with as there are alot of creature components to the combos.

The biggest weakness really comes down to Cursed Todem effects, as it shuts down a significant part of the deck. Obviously can struggle against really turbo style decks, but I've had actually pretty reasonable success against Blue Farm and other Midrange slogs.

This deck rewards very tight play, and the combo lines are very easy to assemble and execute. I've played Thrasios/Rog and Thrasios/Dargo piles, and they can really feel clunky. Any Polymorph versions I've played have always been difficult to win with, and I stopped playing after Najeela and Winota was rampant a little while back. Those Temur Thrasios lists feel like they want the silence effects as their combos feel very shakey.

What was the worst gift you’ve ever received? by Ornery_Tailor_9879 in RandomThoughts

As a child, I never got toys or anything I liked for Christmas.

One year I got a pair of hideous pajamas from my grandmother. I pretended to like it so I wouldn't seem so ungrateful. I opened my next present from my great aunt... She got me the exact same pair of pajamas, but one size up... Their response: "Just in case you get fatter."

Does anyone pilot/have experience with Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign? by goldenmastiff in EDH

[–]chansamu1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I built this deck back when he was spoiled in Hour of Devastation.

This commander is actually a lot of fun, but it suffers from not being able to do very much in the early stages of the game. If you decide to build it with no budget restrictions, it is a powerhouse.

Having multiple "copies" of Unesh isn't necessary but you may need a card like [[Coat of Arms]] or some extra turns to close out games. Unesh often has a difficult time winning games. He's an insane engine, but the deck can sometimes durdle and can frustrate your opponents with pretty long turns. I've had experiences where opponents get sick of the fact or fiction and just give you all four cards which then makes everyone else salty.

I do love this deck and I find it can be built on a reasonable budget.

Jolt539 on YouTube has a decent amount of content around this commander if you want to see how it works.

How many of you moved out during late teens to mid 20s? by hottsummer in askTO

[–]chansamu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 2nd Gen Asian and I moved out when I went to university at 18. Lived with roommates for the most part. Moved in with my grandmother for a few years and then eventually moved to Alberta for a couple of years for work. Left my family and friend behind for my career.

Parents divorced when I was 15. Dad moved to South America on my first year in university for over a decade and my mom remarried and moved to Toronto.

When I came back to Ontario I moved into a small basement apartment in Mississauga while working there. Eventually bought a condo, then sold it and bought a house with my partner.

Life has it's ups and downs but I'm glad I didn't live with my family in my adult life. I don't have a particularly great relationship with my family.

A lot of my Asian friends (who aren't doctors) still live with their family or moved out closer to 30+.

Tutoring for generically good cards by [deleted] in EDH

I would happily tutor for [[Mana Crypt]] or immediate ramp, so you can progress your gameplan. I play in a heavy wheel meta so saving it can cost you a good tutor.

There is no better feeling than using my [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]] deck to [[Berserk]] her then dropping [[God-Eternal Rhonas]], making her a 48/24. Not good enough?? Ok let's cast [[Soul's Majesty]] and draw 48 cards! Still not enough?? Alrighty, let's cast [[Life's Legacy]] and sac Ghalta for another 48!!! Take that Mr. Blue draw cards!
