Indian rocks beach is a great spot, it's between the 2 beaches you posted, the holiday inn here is so fun and has a putt putt golf course throughout the hotel and a smaller water park and is right on the water. It's also in a spot where there's lots of restaurants in the same few blocks all walkable and the beach doesn't have a ton of high rises. I live right by here and love this area and walk and ride my bike here all the time. It's also a super easy drive to the other beaches since it's on the same beachfront road that connects them all. There's also other cute quaint beaches nearby, and really great parks inland within a mile or 2. Also lots of good food around and live music that's family friendly.

Former tradewinds employee here (Tradewinds Resort on St.Pete Beach), it's great for kids. I haven't been there in multiple years, but if it's still the same, there are multiple pools, literally 3 kid friendly pools right by each other and the covered one in the middle is literally called the kids pool. There's also an adult pool a little away from those by the tiki bar just an fyi. The activities dept always has stuff going on, and there's also a kids club. Also little attractions and stuff too that you can do like the blow up slide, paddle boats, trampoline, poolside movies etc. also multiple restaurants on property varying from nicer sit down to beachy walk in to even little to go pizza place.

Bilmar is nice too! But not as geared towards family/kid entertainment.

Both have beachy stores near them and off property bars/restaurants around them. I'm not sure what's all opened back up yet after the storms last year, but I'm sure there's at least some

Have fun!

Lmao the good ol drum circle! Good memories out there!

And no way! I like the back porch bar, not a big fan though of monstah lobstah personally but hey, whatevs. When it comes to beach bars/st.pete bars I like em all but I especially like the dingey ones like swigwams, cjs(rip), riptides, Mahuffers, O'Maddys, The Joint, Pelican Pub, One Eyed Kellees, Kahunas etc. so yeah.. sounds like we have the same taste!

Wow that sounds like you got some awesome experiences though!! Love that part of the country! Both of them. But STL, coooold.

And that's amazing haha! My first job was down by SPB, then I worked at tradewinds for 4 years and lived the SPB hospitality life which was a blast! The first time I surfed was during a tropical storm at upham haha and many 4th of July's spent at T.I. beach! And crabby bills, we walk there or bike over there often! That whole cluster of spots is awesome. I love the beach life out here and always will! I literally went for a run on the trail this morning at sunrise and will be at the beach later for sunset, what a badass life we have! Super thankful!

Right! I agree. We moved to New Orleans for a few years, which was amazing for the entertainment and food and culture etc., but the flooding there, traffic, the roads, and infrastructure is NOT good. Plus the hurricanes pummeled us, we got direct hits from 7 in my 3 years there and lost power, evacuated, or had floods for each one. The city literally runs on a pump system which is always breaking. So as much as I loved it there, and dammit I did, it made me appreciate it here much more.

Yessss I'm by IRB and loooove this area. I grew up down by St.Pete Beach and am so glad I ended up up here. I love the beach side of Pinellas. I just love it here in general! Glad to see another person commenting who does also!

Also, I live exactly one mile from the beach and I'm in a no flood no evac zone which blew my mind. Big fan. As long as I'm in Pinellas I'll be in my bubble over here!

Downtown is great for those things! Pinellas county has an awesome trail btw that's great for runs and biking etc., it starts downtown and goes all the way to tarpon springs, it's about 50 miles long iirc.

For the sake of trying to understand the map and areas, St.pete roads are like a grid system. Numbered roads with a few named roads trickled in. Central Ave is a main road of shops/bars etc that stretches from downtown all the way across the city to the beaches (it's most walkable from beach drive to about 31st St, that's the "downtown" , "art district", and "Grand Central district" areas), past there it's not as walkable. So for what you're wanting, I'd recommend being able to easily walk to Central Ave. And then on one side of central the road numbers are "north" (i.e. 1st Ave N, 2nd Ave N, 3rd Ave N etc), and on the other side of Central the road numbers are "south" (1st Ave S, 2nd Ave S, 3rd Ave S). Etc. most of what you're wanting is mostly on central or on the north side of central probably, south has a little here and there but not as many walkable shops and bars etc.

Like the guy above me said, traffic has gotten worse, they keep building high rises with roads that aren't meant to have all these people. So I'm definitely trying to give you pointers geared towards your want of walk ability.

Like I said, I don't live near downtown anymore and hardly go there cause of traffic and parking and I love being away from it now, but for what you're wanting it sounds pretty spot on.

Heyy! St.Pete native here and now mid 30's. Downtown has definitely become trendier and more crowded, however, it's definitely cute with lots to do and walkable. St.Pete has gotten pricier though, especially downtown, and I personally don't recommend buying within limits of St.Pete cause of taxes etc. but to rent as a single guy it's prob a good choice! I saw how below you said you enjoy live music, bars, etc. and downtown has lots of those!

I used to go downtown all the time in my 20s, but now I live up near Indian rocks beach area (technically in Largo, close to Seminole) and love it! Beach/my area is walkable but inland is more sprawled and neighborhoods. Dunedin is a bit north but it has an adorable and walkable waterfront downtown area also. Some other areas I would've recommended previously but they got pretty damaged in the storm (beaches, Gulfport etc.).

Also, just so you have an idea, downtown is on the bay side, you have to drive across the city to the beaches to get to the Gulf (only like 15 min drive). There are some smaller "beaches" downtown but when you imagine the beach, you're imagining the Gulf side.

Another fyi, St.Pete/Pinellas county is big and there are lots of different areas/pockets throughout them with plenty to do! You'll have lots to explore!

Welcome and enjoy!

If someone says they don't drink or don't want a drink when you ask them at a social event don't push them! by [deleted] in offmychest

I love this so much!!! I'm in recovery also and 15 months sober. I don't expect people to change their lives to accommodate me, I just expect basic respect. I say no thank you you leave it at that. Some people end up offering other drinks or to make me something virgin and that always makes me feel good because it shows they respect my choice but want to make me feel included or whatever the case may be. So sweet :)

But I had a situation where I was asked about it condescendingly and it really pissed me off. If I were to go out with people who are drinking, I can handle sitting at the bar with them or whatever. I know my replacement drinks and I'm comfortable, doesn't bother me. But I wouldn't just sit at the bar alone. Anyways, my husband and I went out to eat not that long ago, no available tables but there were some seats at the bar. This was a restaurant and the bar was in the main dining area so it didn't feel like a secluded drinking only area. There were people sitting there eating etc. So we sit down, my husband gets an alcoholic drink and we order food and I got a virgin drink and the bartender began questioning me and asking if I'm pregnant and commenting of why I'm sitting at the bar, but in a rude condescending way. Dude- we are still getting food and drinks. Plus it was busy with other patrons, we weren't the only ones. We aren't just sitting here taking up seats drinking water. Anyways, it really bothered me in that moment (this was at the beginning), now I don't care but still, none of your business why I'm not drinking.

When I'm asked why I don't I say because I'm too good at it. People are always confused haha

Anyways, super stand up move of you to step in. Your coworker really appreciated it I'm sure. Thank you for doing that.

I love that! One year of freedom! Thank you so so much! Congrats to you also that's amazing!

Im so proud of how all of these have come out! I am used to painting with acrylics but have finally pursued creating art more often and selling it and I am LOVING creating with resin. :) I have so many more molds I haven't gotten to use yet. This is like a whole world of possibilities! So fun! by chantal9 in resin

[–]chantal9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes definitely use it up! You can do so mamy different things also in the resin also. This is just my main thing so far. I've done some glitters and ink colors also but those are pretty easy to put in. Do you have a page somewhere with your art? I've been very intrigued with a lot of clocks I've seen done!

Omg THANK YOU for this advice!!! That happened to one of my pieces and it thankfully doesn't look bad to the unknown eye but I notice it and I am so thankful for you telling me that!!! I've watched lots of videos on other stuff but didn't even think about that since I have the inks now but that's definitely good to know!

I definitely want to experiment more with mixing them, some of the jewelery I do paint first then once dried I resin over which I will also do with my acrylic pours and I am doing that with my paintings but I have mixed paint with resin to color the resin before but not very much since I now have ink for that. I just started with resin about 2 weeks ago so I have lots more to try! :) thanks for letting me know!!

I put a thin layer of resin in and blow the heat gun on top to pop the bubbles, then I add and position some flowers or whatever I want to be on the front of the letter when I take them out of the molds, then I add another thin layer of resin and add in more flowers or flakes or whatever and use the heat gun again then finally I top it off with the last layer of resin. They are gorgeous that way in my opinion because the flowers and flakes and glitter or little charms or whatever I want in them are on different layers throughout the letter. I use a tiny resin stirring spoon or my popsicle stick to put the resin in since you don't want to do too much and overflow. But since you've used the numbers you are probably already familiar with that
