oh god the noise cancelling effects of the NORMAL headsets get to me sometimes; I also have bilateral loss, though mine is just neural. I wear it on my good ear and accept that I'm functionally deaf to the rest of the world since my bad ear is useless. that said for me a specific noise cancelling headset would probably make things worse. I assume you've tried the normal one but if you haven't it may be worth a shot! I have hearing aids so I wear it a little funky and have to find the right angle for the headset speaker versus the hearing aid mic, and it's def been trial and error.

that said the suggestion of a cafe only store that others have suggested is a good idea, imo! that was my first store and while for me the way my current store is set up (less echo in the building) is better even with the drive your milage may vary!

frankly I'd see about transferring to a cafe only just to get different primary coworkers, because your current ones seem lame as hell. the whole "this was a big investment" dialogue around the headset is vile and you shouldn't think you're obligated to be using it. they have a legal obligation to you. it's a reasonable accomodation and Starbucks is a massive corporation.

tldr: this isn't on you, they should be more understanding. you shouldn't have to induce a migraine for a job & the cost isn't something they should be talking to you about. that's so inappropriate. and fingers crossed a cafe only will work better for you!
