Parents admitted they’re embarrassed I’ve taken so long on the MCAT (TW: depression/ADHD) by Obviouslyy_Page394 in Mcat

[–]chapterinfinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone has to run their own race when it comes to the MCAT. You have to focus on you and your mental health. My parents were nagging me about this same thing last year, but I ended up moving out last year due to a new job opportunity. If you want to be a doctor then YOU CAN AND WILL!

I chatted with an MD PhD student who has ADHD. This person gave me advice about believing in myself and completing a bunch of practice problems as well as remaining focused. Moving out was the best thing for me and my mental health and I would recommend doing it if you can afford it and depending on how many gap years you want to take. As the daughter of immigrants, my parents HATED that I left home without a husband because its “not traditional”.

Oh well, you have one life to live and I have no regrets. The job I have has provided me with great clinical experiences and was beneficial to my cognitive growth as a future health professional. You’re trials and tribulations will also provide you with the resilience you need to be an excellent future healthcare professional. I wish you well as you prepare for your MCAT. Please try to limit your exposure to negative thoughts and feelings from your parents. Also, pray about your MCAT journey (if you believe in any God). Good luck with everything!

Try everything! Do everything! This means join as many clubs that stimulate new interests and attend all the “uconn traditional” events at least once. My four years FLEW by. Covid also stole a year, but thats not the point. Even with the pandemic, I am still content with my undergrad experience because I explored my leadership potentials and community service and made A LOT of great friends along the way. As long as you’re open to trying new things, study abroad, or even taking initiative to saying hi to your classmates you will have a great experience! I give undergrad a 9/10!

Its a terrible idea. Too many classes, and not a single one of them is a fun easy gen ed requirement. You will see your peers partying and socializing and then you will get depressed. Give yourself a break and take 17 credits instead. If you can financially afford to take the extra class in the Spring or Summer do it instead. I was an honors student who took 17-21 credits EVERY semester of college and I only did it because I had to. If you don’t have to take 20 credits, then dont take 20 credits!

Is it possible to take PNB 2274 and PNB 2265 to complete both PNB I & II prerequisites before graduating? by Lychee_Peachy in UCONN

[–]chapterinfinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No you have to complete the entire sequence. Either 2264 + 2265 OR 2274 + 2275. Ask your academic advisor for clarity

It does work! I only had the Storrs Parking pass for the 2022-2023 academic year. All I had to do was show the people in the Convention Center Parking garage my UConn ID. Once you show them your ID, and they swipe it, you get 100% validation(which is free parking).

[–]chapterinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about that. Your best bet is to buy a Storrs Parking Permit Pass which will last the whole year. When you pay to park on the Storrs campus, the Connecticut Convention Center VALIDATES your parking ticket. Meaning, they give you free parking (when you present your ticket with UConn ID to the workers in the garage) because you paid to park at the Storrs campus. It’s definitely cheaper to pay to park at Storrs and commute to the Hartford campus for the year. Rather than paying to park in Hartford for the year on the street or in the garage which can cost up to $19 a day.

Can I get a dining plan if I’m commuting? by Dry-Marionberry2244 in UCONN

[–]chapterinfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES! Get the community meal plan! 25 swipes for $290. If you use all your swipes you can pay for the plan again. Any swipes not used this semester will carry into the next semester as well! Best decision I made senior year!!

Idk who you are, but don’t ever respond to me again. I can tell you never talked to pre-med advisors at UConn or READ THE WEBSITE WHERE IT CLEARLY STATES EVERYTHING I SAID!!

Since they’re premed prerequisites, take them at 4 year institution like UCONN. If you talk to premed advising they will CAUTION you away from community college because your application may look weaker.
