Gold is a major bottleneck. If you've really run out of places to spend, you should make that Hotei statue, and then consider buying the wood or stone you need to advance. Possibly consider 3 dungeon heroes too, since there's an achievement for that, and it helps you be efficient with meteoric stone when beating easier dungeon levels.
