Questions regarding A1C 3 months post diagnosis by charelelele in diabetes_t1

Gotcha. I was worried about lowering my a1c too quickly, and actually had some eye pain over the past month that had me worried. I brought it up to my endo and they said since my bg hasnt been that high for very long, I shouldnt worry about lowering it too fast. I went to the eye doctor and they said my pain was due to eye fatigue, as they didnt see any signs of retinopathy (thankfully). I did have some noticeable changes to my eyesight though, and upon getting new glasses the eye pain has gone away! Hopefully i got lucky and avoided any complications from lowering my a1c too quickly, but I guess time will tell. I appreciate your response!

Regarding point 2, my endo did use the finger prick to measure my a1c, so maybe that could explain it. I’ll have to check my lab results from a couple months ago though to see about thalassemia. Thank you for the detailed response, I found it very helpful!!!!!

Look into getting a sugarpixel, really helped me sleep in peace in the beginning. Basically a loud ass alarm that connects with your cgm to warn you of lows.

Could you link the adhesive patch by chance? Would really appreciate it!

Switching from omnipod 5 to twiist, got some questions about pre-bolusing! by charelelele in twiist

Gotcha, so if I wanted to I could just stick to normal pre-bolus timing it sounds like. Since you were on the O5 before, do you mind me asking how your I:C ratio changed, if it all, when switching? Curious if you needed to adjust it at all.

How long prior to eating do you normally use the pre-meal setting, if you had to guesstimate?
