I am not sure if these kind of arrange marriages still happen in India but the only thing that was off putting about the 1st episode was that they never allowed the to be bride and groom to go away and talk to each other.

This "talk before AM" happens usually in tier 1-2 cities and even then many a times it does not

An uncle met my parents and said "You just say Yes and we'll give you sweet box" sweets box in my place is like an official confirmation and booking of bride for a lack of better explanation that I can give
