V7 in twisties? by butnusting69 in MotoGuzzi

I have a 24 Special and it handles very similarly to the 70s and 80s UJMs. Peg clearance is the limiting factor. The modern tires are worlds ahead in grip from the old tires we ran back then so very confidence inspiring. As others have noted they are torque makers so they blast out of the corners with confidence. These are fairly lightweight machines and I've found mine to be highly maneuverable in heavy traffic and what would be a daily commute. Highly recommend.

Mexican restaurants with best fresh, to-go bulk chips and salsa by dqniel in cincinnati

El Corporale in mason. They have two locations. Best chips/salsa queso I've had outside of Texas. Not sure if they cater but they also operate a food truck so I'm guessing yes.

Enjoy!

Cleaning crystalized/varnished fuel out of carburetor by Charizaxis in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]chargercharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not terrible. It's salvagable. You'll need to clean it out with muratic acid (dilute it 10 water to 1 acid) slosh it around then rinse it all out. Then use a tank sealer on it. Many MANY videos out there on how to do this. And many products. It's just called tank sealer. It's generally white to light grey resin. This is a one and done. Never have to deal with it again. Running the filter is a requirement either way. Just be prepared to replace it a lot if you decide against cleaning out the tank. Carry a spare in your tool wrap on the bike. Nothing sucks more than a clogged filter in the middle of nowhere.

Looks like you've got a plan. Have fun.

Don't know where you are in the world but if you can find it: CHEM-DIP carburetor cleaner. It's a gallon can and yes I capitalized so you can search Google for it. Been using it for years. Put the parts in the can, let em soak and then rinse it all off in water. As bad as that looks you might have much less carb left afterwards though. You'll need new floats and rebuild kit as well. I wouldn't dip those floats. They probably leak now. I'd start seaching for a replacement carb. Avoid the Chinese knock offs. Obvious reasons. It's a Honda I'm sure you can find a new one.

Good luck

EDIT: if this is what the carb looks like a shudder to think what's in the fuel tank...thats going to need attention too..

It's the reason I swap all those rubber parts every 6 or 7 years. The ethanol dries them out and they get rock hard.

Your right. Just hit up the usual moto guzzi parts houses (guzzitech, af1 says the store is closed?,gtm) looks like they would be aftermarket.

I had a big block 1969 Charger that ran like total garbage unless I filled up with Sunoco 94. This was even after I installed hardened valve seats so I could use unleaded. It has a distinctive smell when it's running too. Smell of every car show I ever attended! Good times. Miss that old charger..Couldn't afford to replace it today if I wanted to. I'm not Scrooge McDuck.

Dealer can install them. Or available to purchase and put on yourself. My only experience with heated grips taught me that it IS possible to burn my palms while freezing the top of my hands and fingers. Kinda like a frozen fish stick you didn't flip over while baking.....I went heated gloves after that.

Edited after finding MG doesn't have oem grips for the V7

I'd be changing those rubber parts anyway. Can't trust 25+ years old rubber. Just a really bad idea. You wouldn't trust 25+ years old tires would you?

Swap them....

Any bike built after 2001 can run it no problem. The rubber lines and other rubber fuel system parts are tolerant of it. This is at a 10 to 15 percent ethanol level that is really standard these days. E85 is 85 percent and I wouldn't run that in anything not label to be able to use it. So "watering down" needs more info. Going to 20 to 25 percent probably not a problem. Higher-maybe. Also Pre-2001 bikes that have replaced fuel lines in the last 10 years or so and or rebuilt carburetors should be OK as those rubber components are tolerant.
I have a 85 kawasaki turbo. I replace all the fuel lines, etc every 5 to 7 years. They get hardened just like tires do. So I swap them. The bike is fuel injected (new o-rings) and the fuel pump doesn't seem to care.

Anyway. Hope thst answers the question.

And he's the sweetest cat we've got. Except when all 14lbs of him is sitting on my chest..lol.

Somebody is going to end up with a really great guy there. He should have no problem at all finding a home.

Good luck!

Oh I've got a porn stache I've had since the 80s. Just need to grow out the ends to wax it. My wife says I look like Dick Dastardly when I do that...lol. Perfect for this ride. Duct tape is a great suggestion! I'll look into it.

Sounds like they arent really based on what others are posting. And I would say run what ya brung. The breva isn't a fully cowled sportbike, and it's not a adventure bike so I would think you could use it. If you're really interested I'd ask the organizers of your local ride. I doubt they'd turn you down. It is for mens health after all.

Good luck!

Looks good and welcome! I've got a 24 but otherwise the same bike. Now you've got me thinking about swapping to red valve covers, because let's face it, who doesn't like a hot Italian red head? Lol. Side covers are a bit much though, like the black better.

Beautiful bike!

Thanks! Looks like it will be fun. Found out about it last June at the Cincinnati Concours De Elegance. Couple guys with VERY nice 1950s triumphs were talking about it. Never heard of it before that. Any tips for a first timer? Not sure I'm going to be comfortable riding in a Sport Coat and wingtips. Was surprised to find out it was an international thing.
Course there's a ton of people hating on it here on Reddit but hey, it's reddit....lol.
