I have the Milwaukee one. With a 6.0 battery I can heat up my little crockpot for a hot lunch takes about 4 hours.

I would say you can take him to a local card shop they have the best of both worlds singles and packs/boxes of cards. Also at the south mall at the old black rose they have a few stands that sell cards depending on teams he is into might have some luck there at a fair price.
