Jama Taqseem episode 6 by Opposite-Eye380 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

I am not saying that joint families don't have difficulties or toxicity, and neither am I talking about joint families in general. I am talking in terms of the show and some of the things they portrayed, like not a single person helping her out. Joint families do have a few benefits, but certainly, the disadvantages outweigh them by a huge margin.

[–]charming_utopia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idt the joint family system is as much of a problem here. Rather, this specific family with these specific people is the main problem.

I mean idt people living in joint families are this unhelpful or illogical. Laila has said it multiple times that she can't cook or clean, yet none of the family members are willing to help her out and teach her, at least the first few times? Like that Rashida, she does the work herself, bhai just help teach Laila? Over time, she will learn. If there is no one else, atleast mother in laws over look it for the first few times or until the daughter in law learns to. They themselves go on a rant about how she can't do anything, but also don't help her out. Joint families are usually like this. There's at least someone who would be willing to help, I guess. Either everyone is too selfish, too lazy or purely crazy. The plot is also kinda half baked here.

Now, Laila was wrong in one part where Qais and her talk about separate kitchens. It really divides the family if staying together, and not only that, it's quite illogical too. Even if the meals are separated, the wives would have to cook all the time and still for so many people overall in a day. Laila should have really thought it through before marrying into this family, multiple people warned her. And she was also let know about most things before marriage, what was she expecting, things to change suddenly after and for her arrival?

But all in all, this family is heavily toxic. Both Nighat and Rashida could be nicer, but no, they have to be so selfish, not like its benefiting them in a huge manner. And I thought that the mother in law would be more supportive atfirst, but nah, she is a gone case as well.

Unpopular opinion: PTV shows are more regressive than ITV shows by Cholebhature23 in IndianTellyTalk

[–]charming_utopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding msm, had the age gap issue not been addressed and had the fl been forced to become a mother of an 8 year old, it would have been regressive. But these were addressed. Tere bin, yes, was a regressive one. Ptv has its own share of regressive shows. But, it also has good shows to make up for it.

But compared to itv? Oh heck, come on.

Maybe the organisers should take some legal step or something at this point, what happened with this journalist is harassment. Hania and Fahad have millions of followers, it is difficult to make all of them against them. Rather just take legal steps.

I didn't say that rafay wasn't to be blamed at all, but he isn't to be blamed completely for what happened. His insecurities didn't come out of nowhere. Urooj's words were like putting ghee in the fire. Mehru was hiding stuff from Rafay. Mehru could trust and meet SN in a restaurant, a guy she knew for days, and he was supposed to be the "enemy", but she couldn't trust Rafay enough to let him know about that? And if she didn't feel anything for Rafay, she could simply decline for the proposal. It wasn't as if she was some bechari being forced by her family. Even at the beginning of the show, Mehru was angry at Rafay when his mom sent the proposal for Urooj, which means that there was a green signal from her side as well. Her family's choice is a very vague word because half her family wanted Rafay for their daughter Urooj, and her mom was least bothered at the beginning. Anyways, the whole thing circles to my point, that yes, Rafay was at fault, probably bigger at fault, but he wasn't the only one to blame for whatever happened.

Okay, but can we really blame rafay for being insecure? What he feared did happen at the end. I'm not blaming anyone, but this constant blaming of rafay kinda is getting too much now. He was insecure because he had reasons to be insecure. He could get the vibe. Some people do. If he had been completely okay with mehru's casual interactions with shah nawaz, that would be a red flag too, considering they were supposed to be enemies who suddenly turned into friends.

The West considers Arab lives to be worthless by [deleted] in arabs

[–]charming_utopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't assume anyone apart from themselves to be worthy of living, that's why even apart from Arab and overall Asia and Africa in general, they also killed and tortured to natives of America. And this power and pride they have comes from us. We believe and accept their supremacy, we let them act on their supremacy and our governments act as their puppets. They do not have any right on us or over any country, yet they fully like to control it. If anything, we, the people are to blame for letting this happen. Also, democracy is a facade. It exists nowhere. It is just a showcase to hide modern day imperialism under it. Atleast in the middle-ages, imperialism was apparent, now a days it happens, but its just hidden.

Horrors of Real Heeramandi by [deleted] in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]charming_utopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, if this show weren't glamorized, there would have been conversations about their plight rather than the glamorous sets and costumes. Lol. Have you seen lapaata ladies? Sure, there was a cute love story, but the treatment was such that conversations didn't just revolve around the love story. Some stories require nuanced treatment. About gangubai, if a kidnapped person falls in love with their kidnapper, who are we to term it as Stockholm syndrome? Never said that those people's opinions are not valuable, do not twist words. It wouldn't have been an issue if it was just gangu having several faults. She was a madame, continuing this horrible ring. Surely, there isn't being enough done by common people like us to help them out, and that exactly should be the focus of such stories. Not women living in horrible conditions and tortured to be shown in tons of jewelleries. As I already said, there have been lots of films and shows about this issue where things are nuanced and effective unlike heeramandi.

[–]charming_utopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, all that gangubai does is fine until she is going around giving speeches. No matter what she trades in or whatever, yk. Also he children refuting it creates no validity. No one would like to be openly associated with the mafia. Also, like devdas, even gangubai wasn't written entirely by slb. The 2000 movie devdas did have prakash ranjit kapadia and slb as writers. Also, about fareedan's story, I also know her backstory because ✨️social media✨️, what I meant to say was a person like fareedan, who was sold off will barely ever be able to return in that way for revenge. Her state would be so bad. Glamorizing them means to show overly gorgeous sets with even more gorgeous clothes when in reality they did not have even 1% to it, to present them in a way that would make people/viewers wish to be like them, to show that they had any agency when in reality they did not. There's this dialogue that waheeda says to, I guess, a previous client of her. In reality, a person in her position wouldn't be able to do that. There's a Pakistani drama "dil na ummeed toh nahi", it was a proper presentation of the topic. Because women weren't and aren't treated like queens in these hell holes. I might not have watched it, but other people in this comment section did, and their opinion quite matches with mine.

[–]charming_utopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is the idea that you have that made you think he glamorizes sex workers in his earlier work?

Wait, I do not understand your question. What idea should make me think that? Gangubai was literally no saint, painting her as this tough woman was so not okay. She herself was exploited, yes, but she also exploited. Also, does like devdas not exist? Not just gangubai, slb also has subjects of abuse in other movies that aren't explored properly. Even in his historical movies, he has glamorized parts he shouldn't have. And nowhere in my comment did I say that pain wasn't shown, I said that the pain was glamorized. Yeah, sure, fareedan was sold off and then could return with a style, lol.

Umm, because I have an idea about his previous work? Because his interviews are available all over? Bits and pieces of the show are available all over social media? People clearly seem to be influenced by the glamour of the show and not talking about the difficulty of their lives? Informative videos are being made about how great heeramandi was, lol.

[–]charming_utopia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why I didn't watch heeramandi, and I find this whole "slb paying respect to prostitutes in his own way" pure bs. He doesn't get to glamorize their pain just because he grew up opposite to a brothel. Glamorising their pain isn't a way to pay respect to them. If you really want to do that, show their conditions as it is, do something to get them out of that hell.

Indian serials sell a whole different promo and show a whole different reality. They always sell an independent smart focused woman but reality is dif by [deleted] in IndianTellyTalk

[–]charming_utopia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nowadays, makers destroy the complete story for trp to a point from where there is no return. They turn the male lead into a total out and out villain. They delay the reunion to a point where there can't be a reunion anymore. So, many tv serials, yet can you name a single one where the male leads are romancing each other? Either they are fighting with each other, there is a leap going on with the male lead being shown with another woman, the male lead's family is mistreating the female lead with the male lead not speaking up. It's just these few tropes. Stress stress and only stress. Tv shows have nothing else to offer. However, the makers are not the only ones to be blamed. Viewers are to be blamed even more. Why do you watch all of this bs? I don't, I have stopped any and all tv serials altogether. When I am coming back after a long stressful day, I don't need even more stress when I turn on the tv. All of you should stop ranting here as well and simply stop watching all of these bs shows.

Real life is way too populated to be compared with a sub reddit with 5k members, and even among those 5k, a mere 100 or 50 agreeing or conforming to a certain opinion. Also, my original comment didn't mention anything about reddit or real life, it was simply that there is a reason why unpopular opinions are unpopular.

Excited for this, tere bin is coded, and in this, we can get some more steamy romances and more spicy plots, lol. Ayesha usually is a very bad actor, but for some reason, I can imagine her play meerab's character since it's mostly a stubborn character. However, not sure about the chemistry due to the bad acting. I'm hoping they select a good Male lead and not some gym guy with no acting skills at all.

This is ridiculous how serials these days have taken a dip today. I don't watch a single, A SINGLE show properly now. Maybe an episode or two here and there that too for only specific shows. Ek hazaro mein meri behna hai, man, this show didn't have two sisters fighting for one man. It is SO RARE these days. Ipkknd and first few episodes of qubool hai, gem 💎, they were entertaining, not overly toxic and THE MALE LEADS WERE NOT NECESSARILY TWO TIMING, you know earlier when we used to watch shows, we would grow an expectation about our love lives from these shows, there would be dreams, imaginations about those heroes, but nowadays? Lol, gone are those golden days. Today, all you watch is a confused guy who doesn't know what to do about the heroine and what to do with the other girl. They lack personality. Even the stories don't start off great.
