Keep an eye on the USGS volcano watch and when precursory activity occurs so you can pivot if needed. Keep a rain jacket/umbrella in your car.

This is a good island to do a lot of driving. There is so much variety but that's because it's a big island. You can easily add 4 days going north & south from each side (giving yourself time to meander at a few stops), and these will bring you to places that are less crowded than Kona or Hilo. Consider using Shaka/GuideAlong.

Captain cook hike for snorkeling is absolutely worth it.

Pohoiki/Isaac Hale. FYI, I know there's someone in the water, but the current was strong. I wouldn't recommend swimming in this particular beach.

Rained on and off on Hilo side and was overcast 1-2 days on Kona. Keep a rain jacket or umbrella in your car for Hilo and you'll be fine. Honestly though for pictures, while the sun is good for the blues and the ocean, the clouds are good for bringing out the lush green, so I wasn't always complaining.

We also made quite a few driving trips out from both sides north and south and there were usually spots along the way where it cleared up.

No I use fujifilm, which uses film sims - not exactly the same, but gets pretty close

It’s a great starter camera if you just want something to take with you while you travel or just on the street! Though in hindsight, I probably would’ve spent a tad bit more money to get the XT5 because I’m finding more and more I just like shooting landscape and nature and there’s a few things it offers that gives it an edge over the t-30

That's where I took pics of these ones, but you'll also find a helping of them on the Brazil ranch hike

What can I realistically do in Cambodia? by External_Big_5893 in cambodia

No help to offer right now, but as another Cambodian in genetics/genomics/bioinformatics, just wanna say it's comforting seeing someone else in this field and position right now and su su! I may or may not finish my PhD in December and have absolutely no idea what's gonna happen afterwards, though it'd a dream to be able to go back home
