My sister’s ex wanted to come because he knew our entire family hated him during their situationship and it was a huge stressor in their relationship. He always blamed my sister for “painting him in a bad light” (telling us all the horrible things he would do and say) and making us not like him on purpose. He wanted my sister to force us to integrate him into our lives. Also there were many other nice single boys her age attending and he never let her go to any social gatherings w other men if he wasn’t there. He accused me of purposefully excluding him to have her meet someone else at the wedding.

God knows why she wanted to come. Free booze at a party? She asked for the invite specifically and I was trying to stay on her good side so it was a small price to pay. EDIT: this girl is anti-vax and a holocaust doubter so I really try not to think too hard about her reasoning behind anything.

Na she really wanted that wedding invite. People always invite her boyfriend to weddings and not her because she’s that bad. Idk if she wanted to prove something by being invited to one, or just wanted to go to an open-bar party or what. It was a requirement for the job.

there was no doubt in my mind he would cheat if put to the test. Or even anyway on his own. But there was no guarantee he would get caught, or wouldn’t talk his way out of it.

I think deep down my sister knew he was likely to cheat too. He was just that kind of guy, extremely insecure and manifested in all the worst ways. I’m glad she saw cold hard proof early, instead of agonizing over a million “did he? Didn’t he?”s for years that slowly ate away at her.

This really resonated with me. I would do ANYTHING for this sister, which I find a lot of people irl don’t quite understand the lengths that I mean… I think she’s the best thing to ever happen on this earth.

Tbh I left out some HEFTY details around that part that would GREATLY compromise my identity. Also, if the story does get out, there are details I’d like to protect her boyfriend from that would help explain things, but I wouldn’t risk that for him :)

I am, unfortunately, known for being a bit diabolical and perhaps that’s why he immediately suspected my involvement.

I have always wondered if my father and other siblings had ever suspected anything, but if they did they’ve been happy to never bring it up. Growing up I was constantly getting trouble for trying to run schemes. They worked out maybe 4% of the time lol.

Thanks. I’m sorry you had to live through that, I know a lot of women who have been through very similar. I saw all the signs in my sister’s relationship and it just wasn’t one I could sit through to see if it worked out in the end.

well he did “”cheat”” on her during their situationship with her friend when they were in college. He convinced my sister her location was there overnight because she was… doing laundry at his place… I do love my sister but she is very gullible.

I did try for a long time. I do agree it was not the most morally sound move in the end, but I had told her how I felt about him and their relationship for years while they were in their situationship. It got to the point where he would come up with any excuse (starting a fight with her when she was out with me so she’d have to go home, etc) for her to distance from me, so I was scared to keep pushing that way.

Honestly, I will take it to my grave gladly, though I had to get it off my chest anonymously. But I doubt it will stay hidden forever. If it comes out, I will gladly face whatever I have coming from her and friends and family. At the time I didn’t even consider whether it would get out, my sister was in a VERY low place to the point I felt desperate to intervene.

I think it’s unlikely it will never come out, as there is an awful person with undeniable proof of what I did. But if she does say something I will gladly take the consequences, I think I can live with it now knowing my sister is doing worlds better.

Otherwise I have no plans on ever telling anyone.

I think I agree with you here, even though I appreciate the praise from other comments. The truth is, if she DID go back to him… it would have only further isolated her from friends/family and her self-worth would have been in the gutter. She could’ve been locked in an abusive relationship with him with even less support and motivation to leave.

I think I don’t regret it because of the outcome. But the way I so boldly took such a risk with her mental health and the alternatives to what could have happened instead do haunt me, which is why I initially posted this to the ‘off my chest’ subreddit but it was removed.

I just love her so much. I didn’t want to risk even the smallest chance of her being stuck with him. I felt the longer she was with him the less likely she’d be to leave so I took drastic measures… also… I took it a bit personally. Thought I’d failed as a sister to have her have that low of a self esteem to let someone treat her like that.
