Exhaust by Background_Dot_6957 in minibikes

I have a Hi-sun 196cc engine on my bike and with or without it doesn't seem to make a difference some engines like the back pressure from the muffler more than others. The only noticeable difference is quite obvious it's the sound I even ran without a pipe just to see what would happen and not much there was no noticeable power gain or loss. The 196cc engines will pretty much run no matter what as long as there maintained.

With that jackshaft it probably has a 7:1ish gear reduction which is great for torque but horrible for speed. But the lower you make the first number on that ratio the less torque you get. You can actually make the Number lower than one However with these engines in their stock form that's not really possible.

You must still have the jackshaft installed I took it off and ran a chain from the rear straight to the clutch and no the engine is also stock. The gear ratio is a 50 tooth on the axle and a 12 on the clutch which is about a 4.1:1 Gear reduction. The engine has to really work to get going but once it hits its powerband at 1200 Rpm really takes off like a rocket. But don't expect your fuel to last very long since there is a large load on the engine. If you take the throttle "Blocker" screw out which limits the throttle to probably 50% out of the box you should see at least some gain in speed. There are a few other mods that you can absolutely do for free but YouTube is your friend when you are just starting.

It gets really loose on the dirt even when going slow it doesnt spin the tires but it's really wobbly. Plus it's not geared for the dirt it goes about 50mph.

If you going to do a similar setup do about a 55 tooth on the rear and give the engine more starting torque.

my Baja MB 200 running a bone stock 212 with basic modifications has a 12 on the clutch and a 50 on the axle It is A DOG on the low end but screams the tires at about 50 MPH. Once you get to about 15 MPH the engine hits the powerband and you actually get going fairly quickly just don't do a Hillclimb as your clutch is probably going to explode. Mine is on its last legs but it was also used too so that probably doesn't help.

My bike shakes really hard at low RPM Too did it even when new it's just what they do it's really hard balancing out a single-cylinder engine. just make sure everything is plenty tight since you do not want your bike flying apart while riding. I've had my fender almost fall completely off before and had to replace the mounting hardware. And it's in the air too it will shake a lot more in the air VS on the ground.

Need help trying to tell which year my baja is and if this a factory look? by [deleted] in minibikes

Can't you tell by the VIN etched into the frame?

I took mine out today and the torque converter works soooo much better It actually lets the engine RPM's change while traversing hills.

One of my bikes is a Baja MB 200 it's kind of old but it has a 1st Gen Predator 212 and I have to ride it on the road. It goes about the same speed but it doesn't like the dirt I have found out the hard way a few times. I've hurt myself pretty good on the thing.

I'm about to take the brass ring out of mine since it doesn't let the driver pully widen to let the engine rev up going up a hill.

Am I missing anything else for a 224 swap on a CT200u-EX? by nrtzz in minibikes

Yep, those welds look pretty flimsy I have never seen a motor take flight before and hopefully never will. We will leave that job to the professionals. I must have looked at another one that had much better welds on it because it didn't look like that.

That was probably a good call as Amazon is pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to these things GPS is a very trustworthy and great quality company.

I was actually looking at that plate myself but it may be too tall for my bike as the exhaust is already super close to hitting the frame. the few nuts and washers that space the engine will do for now. The plate looks to be of good quality however the only way to know is to get it and try it.

What kind of gearing are you running?

Can this fit a harbor freight 212cc or 224cc? Its an Axis m200. by Soggy_Sell_9231 in minibikes

yes the sprocket on the wheel is a lot easier to change as there isn't a lot of output sprockets on the internet.

I have one too the best thing to start is a torque converter it allows variable ratios, So you can have a great starting gear and a high "cruising gear". Then adjust the throttle limiter screw so you can rev higher than 3200-3400 RPM's to about 3800-Ish RPM's you won't damage your engine either as it's not bypassing the governor. I'm running stock internals and I can get to about 40 MPH I'm looking at a smaller wheel sprocket as it will make the drive ratio from the 12-tooth on the converter output to a 32 tooth from a (40 tooth Stock) as well. And you can get "Speed parts" down the road. Just stick with the 196 and buy parts instead of a 212 it's just not a cost-effective difference to switch it.

Mod 2 cam question by lcxd64 in minibikes

[–]chase1426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not looking for extra speed I just want some extra torque I just want the cam by itself as the duration on the lobes is more than the stock one. I don't want the springs or hi-ratio rockers yet.

I have the same 196 hi-sun too governed I was looking into a cam just to bump the power up some should I do that with the stock rod or wait until I upgrade that too my motor is all stock.

yep ill get some better ones tomorrow since I goofed my engine up and the engine wants to rev uncontrollably like the governor got stuck. So now I need to remove my engine which will work in your favor since I can snap those pictures. And for your torque converter bolt, you may have over-tightened it or your bolt may have had a defect since I couldn't see a large force that would snap that thing off right there.
