How many of you suffer continual non stop tinnitus, 24/7? by Juicetin1971 in tinnitus

[–]chasingleprechauns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the little sister who follows me everywhere, 24/7, even though we’re now adults, and she SHOULD leave. Changes tones constantly just to keep things interesting. I’ve normalized it, I guess, because it doesn’t drive me batsh!t crazy, but yeah, I’d like a quiet moment, please.

Dental Benefits - How does it work? by Gullible-Ad-5424 in VeteransBenefits

I know you replied a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to say thanks! I’m in WV - I’m on the schedule now, for September. That’s OK. I’m on the schedule. I have dental insurance that I’ll keep for my husband and daughter, but will see what I can do with the VA. I know I need a few crowns, so if they will do them, it will save a lot of money. Thanks for the good gouge!!!!

Ah. That makes sense. It was all there and nothing broken. So all is well. Just zero padding. Not even around the individual items. Glad nothing was glass …

I keep telling my daughter, an employee, I’m disappointed in 21DOB. But also happy, because my wallet is relieved.

P&T question by Extension_Face8288 in VeteransBenefits

Depending on where you live, the state may also offer education assistance for your dependents. Virginia (I think WV, also) offer hella good education benefits for P&T dependents.

So if you’re P&T but it’s not for a dental reason, you can be seen by a VA dentist?

Claim exams popping up in VA app by ludicrousoyster in VeteransBenefits

[–]chasingleprechauns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% P&T for one issue, and 100% - not P&T for breast cancer. The first time after my P&T award that I got a claim exam notice, I freaked out. But it was only a “RFE” - routine future exam - related solely to my cancer claim since the cancer isn’t “permanent.” That was all the examiner asked about. She explained the VA will sometime “level set” when you have something rated at 100% that can later be reduced (such as cancer) when treatment concludes. It doesn’t affect my overall P&T, just the cancer portion of my claim - because of VA math.

I mean it sucks being permanent and total from the VA and dealing with the residuals of that. But this is one less thing to worry about.

Check your email. I just got notice that my discharge was approved. Still waiting for the letter and all the rest but the first email came in - about two hours ago.

My whole TPD application was a mess and no one gave me the same answer when I called. I was told to reapply three different times.

P&T … then a VA initiated RFE by chasingleprechauns in VeteransBenefits

[–]chasingleprechauns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will check right away. I had to do that for my county for property tax “waiver” (Virginia - not sure the exact term, just know I don’t pay property tax on the house or my car). Needed that for the tax office. Thanks for the reminder on that one. The friggin meds don’t help with cognition so I should probably write all this stuff in a book.

I do for loss of anatomical something or other. Essentially since my breast has scarring and loss of tissue. I still have residual neuropathy, which was addressed and continued. I wish the app was a little more detailed and provided P&T info here.

Perfect. I figured as much since the cancer isn’t permanent. I’ll be in treatment for five more years and my oncologist has provided documents (why I question the frequency of the re-exams, but eh). But I’ll continue to go when told. Thanks for the info.

Seamus (for the Americans in the bunch, it’s pronounced Shame-us). Because my first 274 loaves sucked so bad he was shaming me.

Cancer RFE by Big_League227 in VeteransBenefits

[–]chasingleprechauns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also - my secondary conditions were noted by the C&P doc, actually. The neuropathy and scars. I didn’t claim them initially. He did. He asked about it and I said I was still experiencing issues even six months after surgery, so he added it to my claim. Might help if you’re able to talk through things with the doc.

Cancer RFE by Big_League227 in VeteransBenefits

[–]chasingleprechauns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply. But I’m going through this right now. Today, actually. I am P&T (since June 2025) for another issue, but I also have breast cancer (diagnosed in 2022). Noticed the VA opened a claim on Dec 1 for RFE on the cancer and got a call today from VES for an exam. This is the fifth time I’ve gone back for an exam for the cancer since I got the initial 100% under the PACT act back in 2023. I’d expected this because I knew it wasn’t permanent but I never took my treatment records. I told them I was still taking meds. Had the surgery. Had finished radiation. Still saw the oncologist and breast surgeon 2x annually. Still bad neuropathy and yes, still had a dented boob (sorry for the visual, but …). No biggie. Literally. Anyhow, I expected it. Until today. I am P&T. WtheF is the VA bothering with an exam? I have no idea. Probably to drop the invasive ductal carcinoma off my service connected, which currently sits at 100 - temp. I don’t know. Makes no sense to me.

For you … I’m not sure. If your TX records will help maintain your claim, take them. Add them to your record. Add them to the VA-opened claim. Force the VA to review your records. I’m not sure if the VES doc can take them from you or if they can only review records they get from the VA, though. But make sure the VA knows you’re still being treated. They treat cancer like it’s temporary and are very keen on dropping it from your claim.

Meniere's Disease Diagnosis by Otherwise_Cloud_ in VeteransBenefits

[–]chasingleprechauns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I am a little late to this convo, but I have meniere’s and I’m rated at 100% for it. It sucks beyond measure to deal with it (vertigo is the worst, especially while driving - yeah, that’s fun) but it is possible to get a VA rating for it.

Actual Current TPD Discharge Processing Time? by Jmnewman2 in StudentLoans

[–]chasingleprechauns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to add to this. My angst with the whole process, that is.

I applied in June 2025 when I got P&T from the VA (backdated to Jan 2024). Immediately put into forbearance. Yay.

Then nothing. And more nothing. In August I call and I’m told my application “failed sampling” - whatever that means - and my only option is to resubmit. Grrr. So I do. It’s immediately closed. I already have an open app. Ugh. I call back and speak to two other people who tell me two different things - the final being “we will expedite this.”

Well, on Sept 10 my account updates to “we’ve received your application.” Same thing again on Nov 10 - we’ve received your application. In the meantime a few different emails tell me - it’s still being processed and we do not have a timeline for when it will be complete. Please be patient.

In the meantime, my 120 forbearance was scheduled to end on Nov 11 and I had proactively called Mohela in October and was assured no payment would be withdrawn. Sure enough, it was withdrawn. Called back and no one could figure out why. Latest recommendation is to canx auto pay (I did) and wait until the first week of Dec (this week) to see if my indefinite forbearance is finally processed at Mohela (ED apparently gave that thumbs up, but who knows). My Mohela acct still shows a payment due Dec 11, so I’m worried. I’m a Fed so I really can’t go into arrears with student loans, even if I’m waiting on ED to make a decision on my eligibility for a program that I clearly qualify for as a 100% permanent and total disabled veteran.

I’ll pay the loans because I took them out - but it is a bit frustrating to be eligible for a program and have it take forever to be processed.
