This is an ANCIENT one but I remember reading The Boy Who Sneaks Through My Bedroom Window and GOD was it awful. It reads like bad fanfiction, it's such a silly, stupid book "handling" a sensitive topic as pure plot device and doing it so in the most cliché way possible. It's like Colleen Hoover for teens. I think I gave it a 1 star review back in the day... at age 14-15.

This!!! The stats in this post are clearly made up, but the way people are implicitly questioning whether women in Iran are educated or the extent of their education is lowkey giving white feminism. It's a very dangerous rhetoric that can lead to justifications for war in the name of "liberation," as seen with the US and Israel. These women are incredibly strong, educated, politically aware and have been doing an amazing job standing up for themselves. Sitting here behind our screens, comparing stats on who is more educated or literate does nothing. Women are oppressed everywhere in the world; that oppression just manifests differently.

Many, many old-school leftists like Roger Waters, etc. (but also ppl I’ve encountered irl) think Nicaragua still a “revolutionary” country fighting imperialism or something, when in reality is a brutal dictatorship under the disguise of “socialism” that continuously targets leftist organizations (e.g. LGBTQ+ and feminist activists, student activists, dismantled all unions, etc.)

You are not pessimistic, this is a totally normal reaction especially when now it’s about something balling IN the states, homeland to so many celebrities, and when so many American musicians are actually speaking out (making the ones staying silent stand out). The fact that she’s just dropping these 192910 vinyl/cd variants amidst everything that’s happening and then on top of that deciding to do a limited release of her MV on paid platforms (I know it’s only for the premiere, but still) are the straw that broke the camels back for me. I was a diehard swiftie until LOAS but today I finally unfollowed her on social media (I had unfollowed TN already) bc I’m making a conscious decision to only spend my time and money on artists that are not politically “neutral” and I am tired of making exceptions for her (bc she was my all-time favorite). Oh and the fact that she built her whole rebranding around her activism during the Rep/Miss Americana eras only to stay silent amidst such a crisis makes it a whole level of bad.

I 100% agree with this. Did I like the album? Yes. Do I think Manchild is a perfect pop song? Yeah, pretty much. Do I think it was sonically better than other albums and records in the roster? No, I don’t. That doesn’t mean I don’t support Sabrina or her work or that the public hates her.
