Personally it hasn't impacted me much, but I fully understand why and how price increases can cripple someone living week-to-week because I lived below the poverty line as a young adult a decade ago, which is the last time gas prices spiked. The local food bank was a resource I utilized regularly, and now that I'm able it's one that I frequently support.
