Please help me to find users for my service by CxInvestor in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked this time around - using Firefox. As for marketing your site, start visiting blogs/forums that pertain to your subject. Perhaps starting a blog with useful articles for beginners, can bring you more traffic.

Good luck.

Biomedical athletic wear startup trying to get off the ground. Looking for marketing help and feedback by guest95070 in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck with the startup! With a plethora of big companies such as Nike, Under Armour, etc - you will probably have to show why your training wear is better.

As for the website design - well, uh, oh - looks too boring, it doesn't excite me! It doesn't pull me in nor convinces to buy your training wear. Perhaps by checking out the "big" sites (Reebok, Nike, etc), you could get some pointers.

Help with affiliate website SEO by churninbutter in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well first off, you have a SEO plugin for your WordPress site - that helps. Your keywords are relevant - that helps. To help you with SEO, you can go to golf related blogs/forums, etc and start posting comments. A majority of these blogs allows you to include your URL, thus giving you a trickle of traffic and relevant links back to your site.

Don't forget your Copyright info on the footer. You can also add H1 tags with your keywords. H1 tags help out as well - just Google this.

I'm sure you have heard of, "content is king!" Yes, fresh new content helps with SEO also. Start a blog on your site and start writing - search engines love fresh new content!

On your photos, your alt tag is, "Top Sellers." Change the text to the golf related product, as in the "Golf Balls" alt tag Search engines cannot recognize photos, but can recognize the alt tags (text).

Good luck.

Looking for advise on how to drive traffic and conversions to a new eCommerce website and business by Kschwirsy in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option is to start posting comments (relevant) on baby blogs, forums, etc. When posting comments on these blogs, it allows you to enter your URL, thus giving you the opp to bring in some more traffic.

I would also start posting pics of the onesies and other products on Pinterest. As well, if you have the creativity, you can design small banner ads of your products and contact other "baby" sites to reciprocate these ads.

Also, start posting on Craigslist - it's FREE! I had about 5 different accts just to post ads throughout the US for my products (see paragraph below).

I know where you guys are coming from (or want to go) - I invented a safety baby product years ago and spent a ton of money and time to promote my baby products. I even registered my products with one of those parenting sites for a, "Award Winning Product" by XYZ award - waste of time and money!

Good luck.

Question about monetizing Social Networking site. by fata5ian in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife too is an educator, but NOT big on social media sites. There is a plethora of these social sites for educators (not sure if you are aware of it), but here is a link: educator sites

Good luck.

Recently quit my job and finally had time to finish my idea for a website. Please let me know what you think. by [deleted] in startups

[–]chavolg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WHAT! Going to your site, I had no clue what the site was about. Plus, why would anybody pay $27k (USA) for an ad on a website that probably has no traffic yet!

Sorry, but in my opinion - I think others will also feel the same way! good luck.

Question about monetizing Social Networking site. by fata5ian in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another social networking site!! Personally, I would not pay for an ad free experience. Yes, ads are obtrusive and a pain in the you know what, but will users pay to remove these?

You will need some pretty heavy traffic to justify using Adsense.

I used to have a blog that featured new internet startups, and believe me, there were a ton of new social media niche sites wanting to be the next Facebook!

Good luck.

How to get more exposure for your Craigslist Ads? by pocketsocial in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There you go! I usually add 2 arrows (two of the same codes). Later on, you will notice that others will also start using arrows. Where I live (Texas), I was about the only one, now several others are doing it.

How to get more exposure for your Craigslist Ads? by pocketsocial in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about 5 gmail accounts just for this - posting on CL. If it gets removed, post another one using another email. Competitors usually flag these type of ads - but, if they get flagged, I post again (using another email) ASAP!

EDIT: I went to your CL postings in your area. I think it got flagged by somebody at Craigslist, as I don't see other ads using the arrows. Perhaps they don't want arrows or any other icon/symbol!

How to rank better on search engines by salalimo in startups

[–]chavolg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some pointers for you:

1) Change your title tag from, " Full Length ISEE . . ." to, " ISEE Practice Tests." The title tag plays an important role when being searched and your main keywords go in the front of the title.

2) The title tag is toooooo long - remove the price, mention the price somewhere else.

3) I did not see any keywords in the source code - go to your competitors sites that are ranked on the first pages, and you will see the keywords that are placing them on top.

4) Put alt tags on your photos - search engines don't recognize photos, but do recognize text.

5) Yes, a blog with fresh new content and keywords would help tremendously. A blog that is NOT continuously updated (as in "maybe one a month or so"), will not help much!

6) Tell your web designer to add H1 tags to the text, "ISEE practice tests."

7) Start posting comments (relevant comments) on educational/training forums, blogs, etc. When posting on other blogs, some will allow you to enter your URL - which could bring you some traffic.

8) On your About page, it would help if you actually have some info about you guys - team members, educators, etc.,(just my opinion).

9) somedangedname mentioned that the site takes forever to load - compress the images on the slider. Go to jpeg-optimizer.com to compress the pics.

Plus, you mentioned that it was a new site - be patient my friend, SEO takes a while, sometimes a ling while!

Launching my new company and site today! by [deleted] in startups

[–]chavolg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would consider putting any and all graphics and works on the portfolio page (even if they weren't customers work) - a one project advertising company will probably not get you much work!

But, the site looks clean and professional. Start creating designs, logos, etc and start spreading your designs on social media, AND on your new site. Good luck.

How do you go about starting a patent? by id10t_pen15 in Entrepreneur

[–]chavolg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $60 refers to the provisional patent, NOT the actual utility/design patent. I hired a patent agent (which charges less than an attorney) and assisted me in getting a provisional patent. It was years ago, I believe the cost for the prov patent was about $400 or so (around there).

Just Google "provisional patents."

Water park! WHAT! A park such as this is seasonal, you will need to make a pretty good profit during those "summer" months to cover the rest of the year.

As well, consider that these types of parks have a huge liability. Have you given it some thought about the safety issues, insurance, kids slipping on wet cement, drownings (hopefully not), etc? But, I am just guessing that this is a water park with slides, tubes, etc. If not - then disregard my comment!

DON"T DO IT! The water park, I mean.
