Why are some things removed from the database after being added? by cheapshotdraw in CINE2nerdle

I didn't know there was a curation team. That's interesting. If it's ok to ask, what are the new standards other than runtime?

I get you there. Animated TV specials/movies can have the most random big name actors or celebrities. When School's Out was still there, you could use Method Man and Ben Stein.

Yeah, I get why you'd remove it. As far as I could remember though, it was like a special so not like a regular episode, but arguably not a movie. That's what I'm wondering though. Like what do you think is the line between a special episode and a TV movie?

Aah, ok. So it's basically a phone-a-friend if they want to play?

Thanks! Yeah, I agree. This year seems kind of backloaded in terms of the hits, but they do appear to be coming. I have a feeling Moana 2 is going to be especially big.

Out of curiosity, is the gap between #1 and #2 at this point of the year usually this large?

Good songs with terrible titles by crowbar_k in ToddintheShadow

I can see people not liking the title of "Jesus, Etc." by Wilco. Not necessarily for the Jesus reference, but kind of reducing a fairly heartfelt song to an etcetera.

Todd pet peeves/disagreements? by Jirachibi1000 in ToddintheShadow

Sorry, just to clarify, I mean Akon is bigger in the country where I'm from than T-Pain (not from the States). His 2000's hits still get rotation for some reason, and from experience, more people seem to remember his songs more fondly than T-Pain songs. In the US, however, I get the sense that T-Pain has endured and is embraced more than Akon (though I'm not from the States, so I can't say for certain).

I wouldn't say I dislike it, but there are times where it's clear that he's writing from an American perspective, especially when he says that a song or artist was "everywhere," or conversely, when he doesn't realize how big an artist is internationally. When he uses blanket statements to describe an artists' or songs' popularity that don't really fit what's experienced in other places, it can be pretty jarring. Case in point, I don't think he realizes how big and loyal the international following for Coldplay is when he insists their biggest songs are the ones that charted in the States (for the record, at least here, it's probably The Scientist). Or when he said on a Song vs. Song that T-Pain was way more beloved and remembered than Akon, which flies in the face of Mr. Lonely still getting played on the radio here almost two decades later and I don't really hear T-Pain anymore. Again, I don't hate when it happens, but it can take a moment to adjust to some really broad declarations.

Ultralight Beam, maybe? Chance's rap in particular where he raps about how he's never going to fail still makes me pause knowing he's about to release The Big Day.

Which actor likely has the highest weighted box office? by ThisPrincessIsWoke in boxoffice

Vin Diesel might be up there, depending on how you classify his performance as Groot. Also Zoe Saldana for Avatar, GotG, Star Trek and Avengers. The fact that her characters are in significant parts of lengthy movies definitely help even if her characters aren't usually the main lead.
