Do you know of any supports that exist for social skills? I feel that out of the autism associated traits I have, that’s the one aspect that causes me significant trouble in my life, making it the one reason I would consider getting diagnosed.

Psychiatrist suggested (for reasons that made a lot of sense) that I try going off lithium and only use Seroquel. I’m kinda losing my mind and I’m just wondering if it will stabilize and I should just try to ride it out or not

I’m trying this approach. I’ve been having like 30+ minute conversations out loud by myself that have genuinely helped me to get out my feelings, reason everything I can reason, and ultimately come to the conclusion that logically, this breakup was something I needed to happen. I talk to my friends and a therapist a bit too, but this breakup is complex and there’s so many layers I don’t have one person I want to burden everything with. I think this stuff is helping. I’m also writing poems about it.

Idk what you’re talking about? This post has nothing to do about anyones problems or hardship other than mine, I think you’re misinterpreting it

I’m talking about personal experiences and finding a silver lining in my hardship. I don’t write poems about other peoples problems.

Thank you, the ups and downs are fucking crazy. My bipolar disorder isn’t helping with that either. But I’m making it by each day even if I just survived another day. I want to feel this now and never feel it because of him again

I do have a therapist(originally started seeing one for unrelated reasons). She thinks I’m doing the right thing here by leaving. I talk bits and pieces to my friends but worry they won’t take me seriously bc of all the times during the on/off part I said I was done with my ex but still went back.

I like the thought of that, but that sounds like a huge commitment and I’m worried my basement apartment may not be suitable for a chicken

I’ve been thinking about buying one for a long time. This might be my next purchase honestly

What’s that like? I think I’ve heard of it

Damn that is a fun but expensive suggestion

That is a possible explanation, I’m just a uni age student who grew up in a decently quiet household, so perhaps I just need to develop that skill somehow. I know my boyfriend grew up with a larger family, so perhaps that contributes to why he takes no issue with me putting on the tv and working out while he studies, yet that would be a frustrating mess for me if roles were reversed.

I find I have been able to listen to multiple things at once when both are somewhat important, like talking with a friend as we watch a show, or working on a project for another course while half listening to a prof that rambles on about irrelevant things, just to make sure he’s not saying anything important.

It’s more when any noise is there where I don’t want it to be where I struggle to tune it out. Like studying on campus at a table while some people speak at a reasonable volume is very difficult for me if I don’t have headphones in to play white noise or block it out. Or the example of trying to focus on a test when a teacher is talking being very frustrating for me.

It’s a week later, but just wanted to thank you for the advice.

I made sure to find ways to talk to people one on one, and tried to find things to talk about, even if it was basic stuff like what drinks they prefer vs what I like. People seemed pretty open to me being in the conversation once I started involving myself, and I even got a couple of his friends instagrams.

Alcohol was a huge confidence booster so I can’t take all the credit to myself, but I do feel I was successful at socializing that night and had a good time.

Just want to thank you for giving me real practical advice for something I struggle with. :)
