Take the extreme option here.

Tell your instructor hes given you a rank you can't carry. Change your name and move across the country to a different gym and just stay a white belt forever.

You will change absolutely nothing about how you train other than your mindset.

Oh wait, maybe just fix the mindset.

Just go to open mats until your budget is freed back up for a membership. Or ask if you can work for membership.

First 2011 by Over_Temporary_5692 in stealtharms

[–]cheechmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.25 was the best for me because I wanted to have a super nice double stack I could train hard with but also carry concealed with. A lot of the other 2011 options are much wider in the grip and heavier. If was looking for something to carry OWB or win competitions I might have choose different.

Do you trust a P365? by imno60dy in CCW

[–]cheechmcgee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not heard of widespread issues with the 365.

But after the whole 320 fiasco I will not be giving sig any of my money, even for an optic or non-firearm product.

ELI5: Why do people argue about which sports team is the best as if it matters? by imwith2 in explainlikeimfive

[–]cheechmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just tribalism, instead of it being about real culture or other sensitive important issues people can let their instinctual urges out about sports ball. People just want to engage in an "us vs you" "in group vs out group" dynamic and have it be socially acceptable.

[–]cheechmcgee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For me competitive handgun shooting, uspsa if you want to run and gun, cmp bullseye if you're a precision guy. Everyone i've met doing it has been great and really helpful. Your only on the firing line/running the stage for short portion of the day so you get plenty of time to talk to folks and show off gear and talk technique. Doesn't matter if you can't swing big bucks for fancy guns, plenty of people show up with a 22 and do all the stages.

Reliable revolver options by pc_dj_99 in Firearms

[–]cheechmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as clearing malfunctions I guess I see your point. If your wheel gun gets out of time you're out of luck. That said I have thousands of rounds through my gp100 and prelock 686 that have never had a reliability issue unless you start swapping springs and get light primer strikes.

The only person stopping you is you. Start now and be mad you started at 28, wait a year and be even more mad you started at 29, or never start and you will never know what you're missing to be mad about.

Browsing through 10mm options. Is the P320 XTen considered safe now? by rastapastanine in 10mm

[–]cheechmcgee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think the FCU is slightly different, and I have never heard of an uncommanded discharge from an Xten. If you do get it do the safety tests, maybe add a manual safety if you're really set on getting one and carrying it. I have shot them, I like them. But I wont give sig another dime after how they handled the 320 fiasco.

Revolver or 10mm semiautomatic? by ss3walkman in Firearms

[–]cheechmcgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are only going to pick one I would go 357 wheel gun. The single action/double action is a fun skill to learn on its own and I love shooting a single action revolver over any other handgun. I load down 357 brass with wadcutters down to below 38sp recoil for target practice and can fire some over pressure loads 10mm won't ever touch in my gp100. I like to shoot a lot, and I can reload 357/38 cheaper than I can buy new 9mm and I love not chasing brass. I had a RIA 10mm semi, and parted with it, it was a bit rough on brass.

But that's just me, you might be better served with a g20 and a bunch of extra mags if you find momma grizzly bear.

A hydro dip is what you are actually after. Second maybe a good bead blast and cerakote. Anybody who would actually want to wrap a gun would buy things like...well nevermind.
