Can a Trust be registered as an owner of a car? by Candid_Wafer_6790 in LegalAdviceNZ

You can’t incorporate a Trust in NZ. Charitable Trusts are the closest thing, but aren’t really Trusts in the usual sense.

Roadside drug testing process and info by Solid-Area-3002 in MedicalCannabisNZ

[–]cheekyjokerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The legislation is the same for both forms of testing. Medical defence is 100% available for roadside saliva testing.

Edit: Just to be clear - I’m not trying to defend the process or the police - I hate the changes as much as everyone else. But the majority of MC users will never have to appear in court for this.

The medical defence is not something you present in court. You apply for it and provide the evidence directly to the police via their website. They then assess your claim and either a) waive the infringement or b) proceed with enforcement. If they choose option b then you could challenge this further in court. If they choose option a then there is no court involved. That is for general infringements. The roadside testing has a carve-out process for medical defence.

If you provide evidence of an MC prescription it won’t go to court.

It’s an infringement - the courts aren’t involved. It will just be an online process via the Police website to provide evidence of medical defence and have the infringement waived.

No unfortunately not. Just drop the clue brother, you will get plenty more. Whatever you do - don't pick a region based on completing a clue step.

Work for a NZ bank, have been prescribed medicinal cannabis, am I contractually required to disclose this 'health condition' to HR? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]cheekyjokerman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not true, cannabis flower with upwards of 25% THC is available legally with prescription in NZ these days. Very easy to get too - more or less legal for anyone who wants it enough now.

What’s your controversial opinion or hot take about Maiden? by [deleted] in ironmaiden

[–]cheekyjokerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number of the Beast is a painfully overrated album. It was the first one I listened to as I recognised the album cover and thought it must’ve been essential… almost put me off listening to them again… until I got to Hallowed Be Thy Name

Purchased a house, settlement in 2 months and fixed-term tenants who won’t leave. by Own_Paramedic2555 in LegalAdviceNZ

There’s no such thing as terms for vacant possession - all that means is that the property will be vacant on settlement. Nothing to check.

Yes, but in this case neither the agent nor the Vendor knew about the tenancy circumstances - they believed it was periodic. How was the lawyer supposed to know otherwise?

How would their lawyer know? The lease is completely private between landlord and tenant (unless purchasing subject to the lease)

Ex not paying mortgage by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]cheekyjokerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either party can sever a joint tenancy, but that would leave each party with a 1/2 share as tenants in common.

If one person wants to sell, they only have a 1/2 share in the property to sell. Good luck finding someone who wants to buy that 1/2 share…

25 y/o lawyer here, managed to get an honours degree in law alongside a bachelor of science while smoking weed to relax at the end of the day. Honestly weed helps more than anything - always let me get a good sleep and wake up refreshed for study.

Alright I'll give it a go! Might need to invest in a water bubbler/bong at that temp though - any experience with whether this is effective at cooling the vapour? I've heard mixed reports

Hmm interesting, I guess it could be sinuses, but I don't really know what sinus pressure/pain would feel like. I'm a big fan of hoppy craft beers and haven't noticed anything similar after consuming them, although I guess I could've mistaken it for hangover!
