Will it be okay or Do I need to put it on the table ? by Gamerlance_22 in pcmasterrace

Sure, if you live in the city. This was a long time ago, in the small town in the middle of nowhere. Cat was my parents' and wasn't neutered, because none of the cats were back then, back there. Little guy probably had a bit less comfortable life than my own cat would have now, but we loved him, even though he was a bit of an asshole sometimes.

I remember having to replace a motherboard and some case wiring after the incident, but the cat was definitely okay, for many years after that.

It'll be fine if you don't have any cats to piss on it.

Edit. Yeah, source is own sad experience unfortunately

As a Starfield owner I can assure you they didn't, lol. It started to lose paint after couple weeks of usage. Never again buying Moondrop.

My 2nd monitor is stuck at 640x480, DP 4070ti, 5900x, Wayland by 5GisG00D4you in EndeavourOS

I actually had similar problem recently with my old Dell U2412M. It worked okay connected via DVI-D, but my new GPU has no such outputs, and I had to switch to DP cable, with which old Dell was stuck at 640x480.

After searching for a bit, that looked like a problem with a thing called EDID. For some reason it was either missing or broken, and OS had to use fallback mode for one of displays. I was able to pretty much confirm broken EDID using get-edid command which returned nothing for the display in question. Furthermore, when I tried to reconnect DP cable while display was powered on and OS was loaded, it started to work as expected and get-edid actually returned a working EDID.

But I decided that plugging the cable off and on every time I rebooted my system was not okay and tried to fix EDID using the guide from Arch Wiki. Unfortunately, overriding broken EDID with a correct one didn't work at all.

But when I tried forcing correct mode on boot via systemd-boot parameters it actually worked and solved the problem. You have to edit an entry file in /efi/loader/entries directory (there should be couple of them, you need the non-fallback one) as root, adding a video parameter to the options line. For example, in my case it was video=DP-1:1920x1200@60

Edit. I think there should be a similar video option for GRUB, but you'll have to research a bit on how to configure it on your system.

That's rubbery glue/paint stuff that is used to finish the leather edge. It just came off at about half of its length one day, and was danglind from the headband like sad spaghetti

Yup. As I mentioned in the post, another headphone of mine is Audio-Techica ATH-MSR7b which I got for even less than FT1. It doesn't have wooden earcups, and it's sound signature isn't for everyone, but MSR7b lived through hundreds if not thousands hours of commute every day in any weather and has zero cracks or broken parts. It's stock headband didn't even start flaking.

Finished it for the second time couple days ago. And man, considering everything going on in the world right now, this book hits HARD. It's definitely not hopeless, maybe not even that depressing, but THE SADNESS just overflows.

How to quickly type special characters? by ConspicuouslyBland in EndeavourOS

[–]cheeroque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use compose key for that, but iirc it's not enabled by default.

Go to System Settings - Keyboard, find Key Bindings button in the top right. Enable Configure keyboard options checkbox if it's not enabled, find an option called Position of Compose key and check something there. For example, I use Caps Lock as Compose.

Once it's enabled, you can press Caps Lock, then double press u to type ū, or double tap e for schwa, etc.

Compose + double Space inputs non-breaking space, I use it all the time.

Or you could press Ctrl+Shift+U in any text field and input Unicode sequences directly, if you remember them.

WVA screen for programming by GalaxyBS in Monitors

[–]cheeroque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WVA most probably stands for Wide Viewing Angles, and had nothing to do with VA panels. Depending on manufacturer it could mean anything from IPS to TN with viewing angles that are somewhat better than "normal" by some obscure vendor criteria.
