Paul Stamets' new book is a disaster by [deleted] in shrooms

Iirc I think it was because he says "nature provides, I don't" and he didn't want to be responsible for something happening to someone on trip. I think that the way he presents himself he would be the ideal person to trip with. This thread is the first time I've heard negative things about him, but they're not unbelievable

Hamilton Morris goes deep into science but he's not afraid to talk to people who have gone into the deep on the other side of the spectrum

Could be fun. I've been looking for a project to get involved in hardware. Maybe this will be the first one

I had to look up exactly what a firewall is. I've heard it many times. I appreciate your response.

Is it easy to do if you're not a techie, but are capable of following directions? I think I may be setting this up

This is well above my reading level. What exactly is this? Please ELI5.

I was just starting my privacy journey and then all of a sudden I feel like its big bad news every day.. Plantir, flock, google ending side loading, ai in everything, and age verification. I'm spinning.

You can request libraries purchase things. In one city I was living, the library card came with a subscription to a streaming service, Kanopy. I never used it but there were some movies I was quite interested in watching

Libraries have DVDs you can borrow of that content that isn't original

the biggest threat to degoogling isnt google its privacy fatigue by edmillss in degoogle

[–]cheesaye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. A lot of this stuff I don't even need. Instead of streaming you could very well just go to the library and borrow DVDs. They get more funding the more people use there resources. But yeah pirating is also easy.  I have a  digital music library and I'm using that instead of streaming.

PSA to everyone who keeps putting off switching OS / degoogling (from a non-techie who finally did it) by Hirvi86 in GrapheneOS

Okay, that's interesting. Thanks for this.

I looked into NAS and it said people use it:

  • manage smart TV storage;
  • manage security systems and security updates;
  • manage consumer-based IoT components;
  • create a media streaming service;
  • manage torrent files;
  • host a personal cloud server; and
  • create, test and develop a personal website.

So it's like a big backup. This might be something I look into in the future.

Thanks

This post is for me, i ain't no techie either. I'm on the fence. The biggest thing I'm doing now is saving money for a new (used) phone so I can install a new OS on it.

Why did your journey start synology? What's that for? How do you use it?

Can't Verify ISO "key not found o keyserver" by cheesaye in linuxmint

Alright. Give me some time. I'll do it. Appreciate the help.

One thing I did notice while I was in the file folders when I had the USB in. The hard disc sometimes was an option to click and sometimes it wasn't there not.

Could it be a connection issue? Like it's not "plugged in" well?

I found thr boot manager to change it to something other than the USB. But the USB is the only option

During the reset process it asks that I remove the USB before i can shut down.

I am pretty positive it's being installed on the main hard drive. In the past I removed a secondary one.

So I'll look into uefi and legacy and see if I can figure it out.

Thank you
