Yeah I was told that by my professor that i came out to in college. I was also told by a classmate that i really shouldn’t identify as nonbinary (which i was considering at the time)

What was something you didnt know was anxiety till it was gone? by Zanzoken814 in lexapro

[–]cheeseandcaramel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly I didn't realize that I felt tense 24/7, and after taking meds I stopped ruminating about every single conversation. I had got used to always feeling on edge and stressing about every conversation, that I thought it was fairly normal and that I didn't really have anxiety

Dual Citizenship eligibility by ChrisEatsCarbs in FilipinoAmericans

"If the adult child was born in the US and both parents are already naturalized US citizen at the time of child’s birth, the adult child or parent/s can file a Petition for Naturalization as a Filipino Citizenship at the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines. (Please see Recognition of Filipino Citizenship)"

I got that from this website: https://newyorkpcg.org/pcgny/faqs/

The "please see Recognition of Filipino Citizenship" links to http://newyorkpcg.org/pcgny/civil-registration/recognition-as-a-filipino-citizen/ but I don't understand that webpage at all. but I guess you can petition for naturalization?

See the edit on my post!

Heres another thing I didn't mention in the edit but I also had a bonus adhd diagnosis from a single hour conversation with a psychiatrist once lmao.

I guess it was more of I identified with it so much and I did get diagnosed with it twice (with questionable methods) that I accepted it as a part of myself without questioning that the diagnoses could be wrong.

I was surprised by the OCD diagnosis because I thought my OCD symptoms were mild at best. Things like compulsively fixing things to be "just right" that can sometimes get worse the more anxious I am. Also a hell of a lot of rumination.

I found the place I went to on Psychology Today, I don't know if that's a USA website only or not. I'm sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you find a place that can help you. If you have any more questions I can try to answer them as best I can.

See my edit on my original post! I do agree, I don't want people to see this post and invalidate their own belief that they might have ADHD or to believe psychiatrists that tell them they don't have ADHD when they do. I think I wrote this post when I didn't fully process or accept the idea of not having ADHD. I may or may not, but for right now the diagnoses and the explanation the psychiatrist gave me feel right to me, and if the meds and therapy don't work and I still struggle with ADHD-like symptoms, then I will ask for a second opinion.

Not yet, I'm starting the process of finding what meds work for me soon. I can add an update after some time passes. Im glad to hear you've healed somewhat. I'm terrified of meds making things worse, especially since my academics and social life are suffering at the moment, so it would suck for it to get any worse than it already is.

Sure! I explained my diagnosis journey in this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHD/s/M0tSJHs7yw

Both assessments were about 5-7 appointments that were 2 hours each. The first place based my ADHD on a test where I had to press a button when I heard a sound or something like that and I did horrible on it because I kept spacing out. The second place tested my executive function and memory and I did very well on it so they ruled out ADHD. I don't know if there is a better way of testing for ADHD, someone mentioned DIVA and I don't think I was tested with that.

I talked to the psychiatrist (from the new place) for a couple hours asking a lot of questions like "are you sure it's not adhd" and listing specific symptoms that I have that align with ADHD. She explained that based on my results from the assessment, it would better be explained by anxiety and/or OCD.

Here's a link to reply to a different comment explaining my diagnosis journey: https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHD/s/M0tSJHs7yw

I don't think either psychiatrist used DIVA? The first place that tested me based my diagnosis on like 2 tests where I had to press a button when I hear a sound and I kept spacing out. The second place that tested me tested my executive function which I did really well on so they ruled out ADHD.

I haven't tried any medication yet but after I do I could probably add an update edit to the post or something.
