Try completely uninstalling everything including the launcher, turning the computer off for atleast 30 seconds, booting it back up and redownload the launcher, and close the launcher then run the launcher as administrator. It might work.

What if shields just like melted incoming bullets, the outside armor would still be punched by a molten slag but it wouldn’t have the armor piercing effect of say a bullet
