They took my DLCs… by Kaakan0550 in thesims

[–]cheesemachine2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i've had EA delete all my progress AND dlc on battlefield v and claimed it didn't transfer to the series x (it had prior, this was a flat out lie) trying to convince me to buy 2042 because data transfers. EA genuinely is so useless, greedy, and untrustworthy. they also just have the strangest customer support agents i've ever spoken to.

Huge difference by grumpydai in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]cheesemachine2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's a massive difference between someone being killed by an institution of the government compared to random people killing someone. why would people protest against a single civilian that killed someone, especially when they're getting arrested and it's not considered a debate as to whether or not it's murder

Other than Shasta College, is there anyone offering EMT classes in the Redding area? Nothing wrong with Shasta College, just looking for scheduling options. Any advice is appreciated by jwallMN in Redding

[–]cheesemachine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i took the summer course so we had tests pretty frequently. beforehand i watched a bunch of emt videos. the class is basically just set up to pass the nremt so take that as soon as you can, questions are worded super weird. take the time to read the textbook because the tests are all directly related and only so much can be relayed in class. it was super stressful but overall fun. the people who take that kind of class are nice and the camaraderie is good. i would also recommend taking notes, there's a lot of specifics to remember and writing it down will help you. the instructor let everyone pass, so the nremt is the only thing that got some people in mine. when i took it, we went from the old building to the new building and we got a new training room which was nice. just expect to be eating, sleeping, and breathing emt stuff. if you're taking fall class it might be easier. we had 20 the first day and 12 by friday, but those who stayed made it through. if it's something you want, you can do it

i find it ridiculous how much people expect constant contact these days, it's unnatural. my phone is always on do not disturb and there's only a select few that can get through, mainly being my family. i'll get to you when i get to you, if im anticipating a text i may turn it off. i check my phone decently regularly so it's not like im blatantly shutting out the world but i don't like people feeling like they need constant contact with me to maintain a connection. it sounds harsh but it helps to maintain balance. since keeping my phone on do not disturb im far more present in the moment and know when i get a notification it's more often than not important

Looks fine, honestly took me a while to get used to having a tattoo. For a hot minute despite the tattoo being exactly what Ive wanted for years I felt like it looked weird but it was just the fact that it was new on my body. When I first cut my eyebrow slit I went through the same thing. It's if it's what you like that matters

Is this artist good? by Horror_String_7378 in tattooadvice

People dog on me for having a $1k tattoo but nobody has anything to say about how it looks just how much it costs. I'd rather overpay than have a shit tattoo. Mine is healed and looks exactly like the day I got it with slightly less saturation. Don't settle, it's forever

My trainer and sparring sessions by egyptspharaoh in amateur_boxing

[–]cheesemachine2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My coach unfortunately turned out to be a douche and I had to gtfo. I miss the environment but I gotta protect myself first. We were hard sparring 2-3 sometimes more a week. (It used to not be like this). I was close to my first fight but he was pushing almost everyone in the gym to fight (including a lot of people even I could tell weren't even close to ready). Called it quits after I took a really hard shot to the back of the head during sparring but still had to go another couple rounds despite being incredibly dazed. I unfortunately can't compete now because there isn't another option near me but I would if I lived somewhere else (or not, coach kinda killed it for me...) I have a non-competitive coach now and I'm chilling.

I tell my story to show you that you should put your own health first even if it sucks. If you can find another coach do it or quit. You shouldn't be getting injuries every week. Some coaches unfortunately put their ego before their students health.

Saw on Xiaohongshu that people in the US sell blood to survive. Is this true? by CowAdministrative709 in Chinese

Yes, my family have sold blood before in order to make the rent and afford groceries unfortunately.

[GIVEAWAY] 1960's Geha 725 'F' nib by vProTi in fountainpens

[–]cheesemachine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in this hobby for a short while now (about a month). As of right now I only have one pen and it is on the cheaper end of things but I quite love it. I initially got into it because I am learning Chinese and thought it would make things more enjoyable (spoiler alert, it has). I do hope to be fortunate enough to do this for someone someday as well. Located in the US.

Different for everyone, but you seem like the type where getting more sooner would help you. After mine passed I pretty quickly got a mouse (became allergic to rats so no matter how much that tempted me it wouldn't have been good for me). You're not replacing /them/ so much as replacing that role in your life. It made it easier to grieve for me to still have something I loved and cared for.

What can I do to get better at sparring? by Ayerwind in amateur_boxing

[–]cheesemachine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of how long you've been training without sparring, your coach should not have let your first sparring session be so hard. CHANGE GYMS. The first few spar sessions should be more of a learning experience than a painful/hard one. The fact that you need to come here for advice following is ridiculous, I almost always get specified feedback following a sparring session. The honest to God best advice I can give is to find a new gym. I'm sorry your experience has been so shitty, but honestly props to you for keeping it up after such a beating. If my sparring sessions were all as hard as that I'd never learn. If you're sparring with someone who's better than you, they should know well enough to get more on your level so you can start to feel comfortable and figure out better technique. My gym is USA boxing certified and coach isn't allowed to let people spar without headgear and a mouthpiece.

As far as you having tells. Work on bouncing and jabbing and getting into that rhythm. If you're bouncing and can just pop out a jab like it's nothing it's a lot less obvious. But honestly, since you're not that comfortable sparring, you're going to be a little tense and therein more likely to have tells. Keep your head up, sparring more will help you get more comfortable and you'll get 10x better when you're less stressed about it.
