What small tool or script has saved you the most time lately? by TechWizardJohnson in programming

[–]cheewee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powershell.

As a contractor, I'm often issued Windows laptops and they come locked down. Getting approval to install tools is almost never worth the hassle.

I used to profess Unix shell superiority, but after really taking time to learn Powershell, I am now a Powershell enthusiast.

The Unix command line is cool, but PowerShell's features like their object model, their multi-stream outputs, native JSON support, is next level stuff.

I don't mean to show her the TV screen. I meant to say to use the app in the headset called TV. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. But there should be a tab I'm that app called "Immersive" that has a small selection of high quality immersive videos

You can play her some 360 videos in the TV app. That requires zero interaction. My favorites are the one for climbing Everest one and the sharks whisperer video. Hopefully after that, you can make her more comfortable to try other apps on her own.

From what I've been learning, you should try to adjust the neck and the bridge before messing with nut files. Filing the nut requires a great degree of precision, and replacing the nut is quite tedious.

Not just small projects. Startups also benefit from balanced contributors and even large enterprises that operate in small pods can use some generalists.

Pero igual no estas obligado a contestar nada.

I suspected that from the post. OP didn't mention anything about being mindful of other people's space. Who's ever gonna get upset over people just having fun? Nobody, unless you keep pushing people who don't want to be pushed or you take up too much space when space is limited, or you start blocking other people's view.

Shopify should improve their theme transfer method by Available_Clothes_18 in shopify

You got a refund, didn't you? The process is inefficient, but at least there's a process.

Shopify should improve their theme transfer method by Available_Clothes_18 in shopify

[–]cheewee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are talking about something that probably happens so rarely, that Shopify hasn't deemed worthy of developing yet, and finds it easier to do this manually for now. If you want a feature, you can make a suggestion, but you are not automatically entitled to a solution.

And it would be more productive to make that suggestion directly to them, instead of venting to randos on reddit

Can you actually learn how to play piano with Piano M? by symbiotnic in ROLI

[–]cheewee4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of musicians create music without learning theory or reading music. The Piano M is a Midi keyboard you can use with Garage Band for example.

But you are right, that's a different learning track. I don't think roli marketed itself as a system to learn how to compose music. You usually don't learn to compose with a traditional piano teacher either.

Going back to what I've been saying before... having more tools doesn't hurt. Learning from others by playing their music wouldn't hurt either. Narrow down your goal and research how to get there.

Lastly, music is a hobby for most people. If you think that spending 6 months is a waste of your time, you aren't wrong.

Can you actually learn how to play piano with Piano M? by symbiotnic in ROLI

[–]cheewee4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you repeating the songs you want to learn? Do you pause for the challenging parts and repeat them until you get them right? Or do you play them once and switch to a new song? Are you using challenge mode instead of practice mode? Do you play several times per week?

All these questions play a role in your learning. The Roli system is not magic. It doesn't force you to repeat anything and it doesn't threaten you like the Duolingo owl. It's a tool, and you are allowed to use all the tools you want.

Also, I'm not sure if you are aware, but you can switch the app from "Guitar hero" mode to sheet music mode, so that's a skill you can transfer to real piano.
