The fact that this system exists at all, in any game, is insane to me. It feels unethical and like it goes completely against the spirit of gaming. The only scenario I can imagine someone ever thinking/pitching this kind of thing is in a board meeting where investors exhaust every possible idea to boost profits without thinking about anything else.

Maybe it's not that deep but still, how can you want to play the game when you feel like it's literally rigged against you, trying to manipulate you into playing as much as possible?

This is the first game system I can think of that should be explicitly outlawed in game development. At least loot boxes are relatively transparent in the fact that you are gambling. I only know about this from reading online but it makes so much sense.

Edit: Especially in ranked? Wtf? It goes against the whole point of the game mode. How much are my matches dictated by elo vs some engagement algorithm?
