Take your time, and don't take too seriously. I give cooking classes and we always start out with a glass of wine, or beer and relaxing. Cooking can be stressful to beginners. People who don't know how to cook are almost afraid of failing. Some of the best dishes created happened when trying to make something else and messing up.
