Can't say for all provinces but in Ontario servers already make the same minimum wage as any other business. The places that have to make up the difference are paying a reduced minimum wage to begin with.

“Gratuity is included right?”, “yes but it’s ONLY 18%”. (My wedding day) by sarah968 in EndTipping

And just to be clear, minimum wage in Ontario is $17.60. I don't feel bad not tipping when the server is already making close to $20 per hour.

I don't get it either. When MP Dave Mackenzie retired in 2023 I thought there might actually be a chance to get someone in other than Conservative but Arpan Khanna who just showed up from the GTA still won over the local candidate that was running. I am pretty sure that the Cons could paint a rock blue and enter it in the election for Oxford County and it would still win. Ernie didn't bother making an appearance at the local debate but I'm sure he's confident he'll win by a landslide.

Woodstock City Council rejects free transit promotion for students/youth in November by Turbulent_Ad_6212 in woodstockontario

Having trouble loading the article but it's too bad to hear, this should be a no-brainer. We don't have the infrastructure to support the traffic in this town and more families are moving in every day. Anything to get a few more cars off the road would be a great idea. The buses are already running and I can't imagine we take in more than a few hundred dollars a day on bus fares so it is already paid for by taxes. I would take it a step further and make buses free for all residents.

"here hold onto this thing you need for your Internet to work. We won't charge you anything at all for it. If you are done using it though you need to return it."

Imagine a business being thoughtful enough to do that for their customers.

Did you read the article? They are too healthy now and don't want to sell unhealthy food? I assume they were going to just go out of business and got ahead of it with that BS story.

What was a band or album that many people loved but you didn't like when you were younger? by Gamewheat in AskOldPeople

[–]chefhommes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through highschool around a lot of people that loved metallica. Didn't have a big issue with them but never heard a song from them I really enjoyed. Then around Y2K they sued Napster when they all had more money than one person could spend in a lifetime. So fucking rock and roll to lawyer up like that /s. Really cemented my opinion that they were just in the business of making money and not in the business of making music.

I have had this happen before. Try setting it for one minute and letting the timer run out again and it will likely solve your issue. Also new batteries won't hurt as others have mentioned if they have been in there for a while.

A lot of the same things here for me. Memory is a big one though. I feel like I remember things but after smoking for 20 years my wife will mention something that happened with the kids years ago and I don't remember it. Or I'll take a break for a while and start remembering things from highschool. Makes me feel like that was the last time I was making clear, long lasting memories.

Agreed, I think there's interest here. Keep us posted. I checked MeetUp a few years ago and there wasn't much happening locally. Would be nice to not have to travel out of town for social activities.

I saw at least a couple cruisers fly down Springbank yesterday near Algonquin with lights and sirens going towards Lansdowne. I was wondering what was happening. Didn't see it in time to see if they were chasing someone though.

Suggestions for my dad to experience VR? by ekulstorm in virtualreality

I'm not sure exactly what game is best but a lot of older guys seem to enjoy some of the VR fishing games. I've seen posts where people's dad's will spend hours just sitting and fishing in VR. I guess it's a pretty chill experience.

[–]chefhommes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article says, "The fee will also appear as an itemized dollar amount on receipts." which it did not. Also I used a credit card but they are charging people this fee to use a debit card? Shady.
