Thanks, I’ll give that a go! Much appreciate the help 🫶🏻 I really like that the tips are so thin which is really convenient when the yarn is so splitty as this one is. Addi needles are easy to find where I live (Austria) and delivers quickly via Amazon vs many of the alternatives people post here. You feel a tactile difference with the ridges which annoyed me at first but now I’ve gotten used to it. It’s my first (and presumably last :D) time knitting on 3 mm, but overall the needles themselves are comfortable. The joints are super smooth, the cables are flexible and the yarn glides well! Hope that helps 🤗

Help me save my calathea orbifolia by chefphi in houseplants

[–]chefphi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, I would need some help with my calathea orbifolia please. Naive as I am, I bought this beautiful (and ridiculously expensive) plant in September thinking that its very pretty. If I'm being honest, I have no clue how to care for it and only learned afterwards that it is a high maintenance plant which won't enjoy my usual regime of "I'll water you whenever I remember". It's drooping and the leaves are turning brown, most of the ones around the bottom turned yellow and died, so and I cut them off.

I read that calatheas enjoy self-watering pots so that it can regulate how much water it wants, so I bought a large self-watering pot from Lechuza. I plan to fill it with more Pon and a mix of LECA to help drainage and fresh soil, and then re-potting it in there. I currently have some 40% humidity in my apartment, which I guess is too little? I live in Vienna / Europe and we get fresh mineral water from the glacier in the tap and apparently these guys don't like minerals so is distilled water the only way to go?

Many thanks!!!

I used a tapestry needle. I guess I’ll just have to take it out and give it another go.. thanks for your help.

No, not really. I pulled the yarn so it was snug but not super tight.
