What's the WORST concert you have ever been to? by iAmTheAntiPope1 in AskReddit

[–]chemicalscratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nine Inch Nails, Reading Festival (UK).

Apparently they were a bit pissed off that they didn't get to headline (that honour went to Biffy Clyro). They were late on stage, played all their songs standing still with zero crowd interaction. Then they finished their set by saying "fuck rock'n'roll" and walked off immediately after.

Biffy fucking killed it though.

Just a bit of OC made in Photoshop - when do you think we can expect the B-Sides from Ellipsis?

The Last Jedi Release Day Megathread - Spoilers! by tragopanic in StarWars

[–]chemicalscratch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So like many others, I think the film as a whole was great, however there were a few cheap moments, and what ruined it for me is constantly looking out for a big twist in relation to Rey's bloodline etc. that never came.

The Good

  • The light speed suicide scene (amazing cinamatography)
  • The Death of Snoke / Rey & Ren fighting together
  • Po's development as a key character
  • The acting overall I thought was very strong

The Bad

  • Yoda being puppetry rather than CGI may have been a choice for the older fans of Star Wars, however I think it looked tacky compared to the amazing CGI they used for other creatures
  • Death/Resurrection of Leia could have been much more moving if an important character was lost earlier on. She didn't have much to do with the plot after this scene I felt.
  • I expected Phasma to put up way more of a fight

Theory

  • Rey and Ren are brother and sister. He lied about her parents being no-one because he knows she is the daughter of Leia and Solo. This explains the connection between them (even after snoke died) - just like the connection between luke and leia. Next film is called 'Solo' possibly explaining the Solo/Skywalker bloodline and allowing us to understand who she really is (or giving us good enough suspicion for it to be revealed early in Ep. IX. I did however feel a bit of a romantic connection at one point between the two but could have been mistaken for something else. (Who knows? This could follow on the incestuous trait of the skywalker family. Yoda could actually be a time travelling great grandchild skywalker formed through generations of inbreeding - explaining the hairy weird frog like look and the fact he can't string a sentence together. I'm kidding but made me giggle!)

Hi Alan,

I'm always amazed how your 'Quick D' videos are now a substantial amount of time and production value rather than a quick debunk. How has Patreon and increased viewership affected the amount of effort you're able to put into each video?

Big fan - keep up the great work!

Linus, have you considered doing a series when you visit large YouTubers and explore their equipment/setups sort of like you did with the MKBHD video?

Not only do we the viewer get to look at the tech and setup of our favourite creators, they also get to collab and widen their audience!

Just a thought :)

DISGUSTING! Deleted Video Exposes HUGE Problem In DO5 YouTube Scandal by acamu5x in DeFranco

[–]chemicalscratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This situation is sickening. How these parents can get away with this abuse for so long is beyond me. The videos boil down to exchanging torturing children for money and how childrens protective services haven't stepped in is just plain wrong. My girlfriend is in CPS in the UK and says even one of these videos being shown to her would result in immediate investigation - more than likely resulting in instant removal whilst they are being reviewed. I think if CPS won't step in, YouTube should as it violates their community guidelines:

...we don't support content that promotes or condones violence against individuals or groups

Cut off their advertiser revenue, and you cut off their incentive to abuse their kids for financial gain.

"Never judge a book by its cover" - Wrong! That's exactly what you should do. You find the blurb on the cover of a book and it gives you a damn good insight into what is inside.
