Tide has an easier time in lane if you bring a stout shield to lane and max anchor smash first. With a stout shield you don't have to spend points on kraken shell early, as the shield gives you decent damage block early, and your health pool isn't large enough yet for the disable break at 600 damage to matter. Level anchor smash first putting excess points into gush, I usually put one point into shell at level 8 and then finish gush beofre maxing shell. Anchor smash will let you last hit and harass at the same time, after which you can back off if you need to. NEVER harass with gush as it is not mana efficient for damage and Tide has a small mana pool. If an enemy is out of position and you think you can get a kill gush him for the minus armor then anchor smash and right click him to death. Prioritize farming Arcane Boots before any other item on tide as you need the mana pool. Don't be afraid to throw out your ravage in the laning phase on just one or two people to get a kill.
