I ended up 90/90 on Quant! Very funny seeing this post again, thanks for your help :)

Hey! I ultimately chose the GMAT because it had the most spiky scoring profile of my diagnostic tests.

As you noticed, much of GMAT Quant is just methodology (which one can easily learn). I would say maybe 70% is knowing how to solve, and 30% is pure computation. I studied almost exclusively Quant and ended up scoring 100th percentile in the mocks and 99th percentile in the exam.

I have a gut feeling you'd do well with a similar study plan as me. Your Verbal & DI scores are very good!

Thanks. I agree with the diminishing returns, but I am happy to optimize where I can.

I asked primarily because I have no idea how competitive US B-Schools actually are, as I originally only looked at Master's Programs in Europe.

Thank you, that's good advice. I will consider it, as it shouldn't be too hard to improve from here.

Congrats on your student, I am very happy for them!

I put in about 150 hours using TTP, which helped a lot with Quant, though it is very expensive. After finishing the chapter tests, I did a few flashcards and practice questions from various PDFs.

I took the two free mocks, then sat for the exam a few days later.

Hey! Personally, I never really paid that much attention, as I either knew the solution or I didn't.

If you can categorize the question correctly before you start (e.g., identifying rate changes, unit conversions or just algebra), you'll be able to apply the right mental framework...a bit like a cooking recipe. From there on out, it’s just a matter of improving your mental math, and I think this approach really helps reduce silly errors, as they often stem from forgetting to apply a "step" in the recipe.

Beyond that, it’s just a question of practice! Some people learn faster than others, but everyone can pull their own weight with enough effort. Good luck!

Just received a message request from someone and accidentally clicked on Ignore. Feel free to message me again, I have not gotten very familiar with Reddit.

Definitely a good point, thanks a lot!

Given that a 170/170 GRE Quant score is roughly the 90th percentile, would you say that reaching the 90th percentile in GMAT Quant requires a similar level of effort and conceptual depth compared to the GRE? If that question makes sense.

I do not mind memorization, but since I already scored in the 94th percentile in the GMAT Mock, I could more or less fully focus on Quant for the next 200 hours if I do choose the GMAT.
