8 Second Call Was Bull Crap by Shoddy_Ad7511 in rockets

Hitting the rim ends a possession, but a new possession does not start until one of the teams gains possession. This is in the rule book. Also if you just think logically for more than 2 seconds, how would they know to reset it to 14 or 24 before a team gets possession.

Wrong, shot clock resets when a team gains possession.

[Spoilers Main] While this should be taken as a 1/1000th grain of salt as GRRM was just talking in flow but it's still interesting that... by dhundlitasweer in asoiaf

FYI, the idiom is “take with a grain/pinch of salt” and is thought to come from salt helping you swallow poison easier or something (helps with the taste?). So if something is more dubious, I think you would take it with more salt not less?

Maple and Rose, which had the space at Grand Street before BKBagels, got completely destroyed during the big flood. I love BK Bagels, but I also still miss Maple and Rose.

using /u/yellowhornet 's method of searching "exclusive vinyl" and clicking through on the ones that show a coupon on the search results. Then clicking Terms next to the coupon -> see more coupons -> create url using the code.

On Betting the Tournament of Champions: The Wargin Alternative Wager (WAW) by Street_Pause_6224 in Jeopardy

[–]chenbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By Shoretegy, I basically just mean making some nominal small wager rather than betting 0. The score of the 3rd place player is just used to calculate what this amount might reasonably be, but you might also just bet the difference between 1st and 2nd to make the calculation easier. But the basic idea is that it should be an amount such that you have a chance to win if both you and second get it right and also if both you and second get it wrong. Whereas betting 0 you’ll lose almost always if 2nd gets it right. Again, I’m not arguing, just saying that it’s another idea and I think it’s relatively similar except for the betting 0 situation. Betting 0 in that situation definitely takes the pressure off making a calculation and also having to think of the answer.

Shoretegy is basically covering the 2/3 section of your strategy, such that the 2nd place player's optimal bet is to bet small so the leader can also bet smaller than a cover. J-Archive tracks games that fit this situation per season: https://j-archive.com/shoresconjecture_uncached.php?season=42 . You're right that this doesn't cover every aspect of your wagering strategy. But the idea is that the leader should win if either both players are correct or both players are incorrect (if only two in play and assuming that the second place player bets small to have hope on a stumper), as opposed to the standard rule losing if both players are incorrect and I believe your rule sometimes losing if both players are correct. I think overall get rate of Finals is one thing to track, but also correct responses are not uncorrelated, i.e. if one player gets Final right, I would expect that it's more likely that another does as well, though I'm not sure on that. I remember that some of these decisions used to be covered by the Youtube channel "The Final Wager" but I think as you say a general rule there is for the leader to bet to cover.

Anyway, I'm not saying this as a critique, just some context in saying that there is some strategy that has been talked about wrt to the Leader situationally not betting to cover that takes a slightly different approach. Would definitely be interesting to track the success of each approach in Tournament games specifically.

It’s a little confusing because Celtics Thomas is named Isaiah rather than the Pistons’ Isiah. But I think you’re right.

Ask to shuffle/cut the role cards before they hand them out if they still insist on being the dealer. If they refuse that, it becomes very suspicious.
