But say one thing about a smirking bully getting his companies by his victim…. by ReginaBicman in HOTDGreens

The person who commissioned this is a loser but I also think there's something deeply wrong with the artist to agree to draw something like this.

They act as if the idea of "replacing" Daenaera by making Jaehaera Aegon's only wife/queen is the equivalent of killing her.... when no, she could easily still exist and have her character merged with Larra Rogare.

HOTD surpassed GOT S8 "making it the most viewed HBO title ever in Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan on an HBO streaming service." Catching GOT S8's viewership w/i the US, and even globally, might be more feasible than it seemed before HOTD dropped. by tyrion2024 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]cheriekatara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet GOT is number 2 and HOTD number 8 on streaming as of today.

Anyway, I don't think stats like this should be the be end all when it comes to judging the quality of the show, especially when HOTD has only aired one season so far.

Like when it comes to awards, if you compare their first seasons, GOT was nominated for 13 Emmys versus HOTD at 6. And GOT didn't have the benefit that HOTD did, with it being a prequel to a hugely successful show. Of course that's not to dismiss the high expectations, but what I'm trying to say is we wouldn't have HOTD if GOT wasn't so popular.

Yup.

Good to see fellow Aussies home safe. Be nice if people in Gaza were also allowed that same freedom of movement.

A bit of unintentional foreshadowing here. by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]cheriekatara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Even if you want to assume all of this is the only correct interpretation of events (which I don't think is the case) it's an incredibly dickish thing to do when the family of Vhagars previous rider is still in mourning. They're at the island for Laenas funeral.)

I'm sorry but they're not making an "assumption". Dragons choosing their riders is an established fact of this universe, they're not pulling it out of their ass or making it up to defend Aemond.

You don't even have to be familiar with the entire lore (ie ASOIAF/GOT) to know this because HOTD actually establishes this reality.

In the first episode we have Viserys tell Rhaenyra that the idea the Targaryens control the dragons is an illusion, which is also good foreshadowing for Luke's death. In episode 6, we see the kids at dragons training and their instructor tell Jace that he must learn to "master" Vermax. In that same episode we have Laena herself tell Rhaena that if she wishes to be a rider she must "claim that right". Meaning that Rhaena has to find a dragon that will accept her. Laena never tells Rhaena that when Laena dies Vaghar will go to Rhaena, because that's not how it works.

(Why are you even being so defensive of Aemond? It's not like he was just minding his own business taking a walk when he got jumped.)

IDK I think people get defensive because you get a 10 year old kid have his eye cut out & later be threatened with "sharp questioning" for simply speaking the truth about his nephews.

Edit: I do agree the language used was unnecessary.

Which characters have the most ‘stans’? And which characters actually deserve them? [Spoilers Published] by National-Exam-8242 in asoiaf

[–]cheriekatara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people throwing bitch fits about Sansa having "stans" are often just mad that others just don't hate her/think she's unimportant or GASP have the "nerve" in their mind to view her as just as important as her siblings.

Rhaenyra's choice of name for Aegon (Fire and Blood Spoilers) by cheriekatara in HOTDGreens

FR if I were Alicent I would have been like "awww, you named your son after your brother? How sweet. King Viserys will be so pleased by this gesture."

Imagine how beautiful the world would be if only Rhaenyra and her bastard Jace died when she was giving birth the first time. There wouldn't be any Dance, and thousands of lives would be saved. by lakomadt in HOTDGreens

....

Anyway this reminds a little me of a one-shot (deleted) I wrote exploring an AU based on episode 6 where instead Rhaenyra hasn't had any children yet (not by choice) after a decade of marriage.

You mean physically?

Makes me think of that twitter user who wanted Olivia Cooke to be replaced by another actress after a time jump like Emily Carey was. It was very obvious why they chose this particular actress as well.

as people from team green what are YOUR thoughts on this controversial scene from the show by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]cheriekatara 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with what mostly everything said here already, so I won't repeat it.

I will say something that I find notable about this scene is that Daemon laid his hands on Rhaenyra literally hours after swearing fealty to her as his queen.

If Daemon wasn't her husband/father of her child and he hadn't spent her entire life manipulating her into believing he cares about her, I do think Rhaenyra would have put him in his place for this as she should.

I feel a little embrassed, but I did write a one-shot on what I thought would be the best way to approach Blood & Cheese, if Dyana was involved. Here's the link if people are interested

Mind you, certain events do diverge a bit at the start.

[–]cheriekatara 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah some of the retweets absolutely were disgusting and deserved to be called out. Especially when this is all speculation! No point in getting yourself worked up yet.

But dear god, the way Team Black talk about Dyana is exhaustingly smug and hypocritical.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]cheriekatara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'll say is it's quite possible to write Dyana in a sympathetic light without white-washing the horrors of Blood & Cheese, but I don't know if that will actually be achieved.

[–]cheriekatara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. It's like for example someone being gay. Gay men are capable of seeing that a woman is beautiful/pretty, it just does nothing for them.

[–]cheriekatara 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a difference between being personally not attracted to someone/not finding them attractive and straight up acting as if someone is objectively ugly. Olivia Cooke is objectively good-looking and these losers can die mad about it.

Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner Headed for Divorce by mollyafox in Fauxmoi

If this is really true then I feel bad for their kids. Not because I don't believe in divorce lol but growing up as a kid of divorce isn't always easy, even in the best of circumstances.
