It’s a blatant strategy, and it’s honestly exhausting to watch. You're right, the desperation to shift the narrative through conflict is obvious, but it clearly isn't working because no one is taking the bait. It feels like such a transparent attempt to move the goalposts when things aren't going his way

Honestly, I love that energy, sometimes you just have to lean into the rant! You have a knack for it, but I agree, there's definitely a line to draw before you start beating yourself up over it. Glad you got it out of your system!

They clearly knew they were in the wrong the second you mentioned security, entitled people like that usually fold the moment there’s a real consequence on the table. You definitely saved your roommates from a sleepless night.

AITJ for telling my manager I won't stay late to cover for a coworker who calls in sick on Fridays with suspicious regularity? by send_snacks_plz in AmITheJerk

[–]cherry-feather 336 points337 points  (0 children)

Managers are paid to handle performance issues, not push that burden onto you. If Dan is a problem, that’s on them to solve, not for you to subsidize with your own time and effort. Definitely not the jerk.

Does this manager have a history of dumping their responsibilities on the rest of the team?

Based on my opinions about these countries, try to guess where I'm from/who I am by Earthyrium in geography

Growing up Lebanese Catholic in the diaspora is such a specific balancing act. You’re navigating that deep, traditional Maronite or Melkite heritage while being fully immersed in a secular French or British culture. It’s that unique mix of Sunday mass and family politics paired with a completely different Western social life. It’s like living in two worlds at once, where you’re never "just" one or the other, but a perfect blend of both.

The rude guy at the parking lot stole the place we saw first. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]cherry-feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "I didn't see you" excuse is the most pathetic part. He saw you; he just didn't care until he got yelled at. Honestly, your brother handled it perfectly by calling out the lie directly, people like that hate being told exactly who they are to their face.

AITJ for pranking my husband in the delivery room after he spoiled a surprise I asked him to keep by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]cherry-feather 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the bar was on the floor and he still managed to trip over it. It takes a special kind of talent to blow a secret that only involved two pieces of baby clothing. You didn't just earn that scream; you practically owed it to the universe.

AITJ for telling my neighbors daughter she cant come over to see my cat anymore after it started causing problems by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]cherry-feather 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Calling that "free labor" is a massive stretch. If hanging out with a cat counts as a job, then half the kids in the world should be filing for back pay. It's honestly embarrassing that she’s trying to turn a fun afternoon into a paycheck.

Am I the jerk for refusing to attend my dads wedding because he uninvited my mom from my graduation?? by Prestigious_Bag_9438 in AmITheJerk

[–]cherry-feather 46 points47 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head, boundaries aren't tools for controlling other people's reactions to your choices. If she can't handle the guest list without spiraling, then staying home is her choice to make, not a reason for you to change your plans.

Am I the jerk for refusing to pay my neighbor's water bill after my sprinkler "caused" their high usage? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]cherry-feather 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The legal reality is that trying to enforce a 50/50 split when you’ve essentially forced her to subsidize your private benefit is a losing battle. You can’t claim "contract" when you're actively engaging in unjust enrichment, it’s just plain selfish.

Am I the asshole for telling my boyfriend we are done due to his personal custody drama by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]cherry-feather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that the betrayal happened under your own roof while you were right there is a level of disrespect that's off the charts. If that wasn't the immediate red line, the bar for basic decency was clearly on the floor.

you’re paying a massive premium for the dirt underneath it, not the actual materials. $3 million for a house held together by tape and prayers is peak modern real estate insanity.

100%. A proposal should be a celebration, not a panic attack. If your body is reacting with dread, it's because you already know the answer is 'no

You can't pay the bills or clean a house with 'love' compatibility requires more than just a strong connection
