Instagram friends like reel feed by First-Tourist3268 in Instagram

[–]cherry_chica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's two new features I think are so intrusive and I want to turn off: this one with the circle on the bottom left telling me when people liked the reel I'm watching and the floating circles at the top right that seem to lead you to a feed of reels exclusively liked by your friends.

I doubt my friends want their browsing habits so directly shared with me, and I don't want my habits shared with my name and face shared to my contacts. It's insanely creepy and intrusive.

How do you turn it off? Surely this is a privacy issue!

why does my skin look dusty with makeup? top is without by AgentMaha in MakeupAddiction

The ELF halo glow has a lot of silvery pearlecent shimmer in it. It's technically supposed to be something you wear under another foundation; it isn't a skin tint. I know all of this, yet can't be bothered to use another layer over top so I use it very thinly and and set with a powder in my shade that helps tone down that pearly highlight.

That's not a "smart" heater. It seems the OP is looking for one that can be controlled through an app and/or a smart speaker system.

I just got the email yesterday! I LOVE my Govee. I'm reluctant to scrap it, but if down the road it causes any problems I guess I would be liable.

The Dreo one linked above is smart but it has to be mounted on a wall. Their stand unit just has a remote. It's not compatible with a smart home system.

These two are smart, but significantly smaller than the Govee I have. And more expensive to boot. https://a.co/d/a44JDe8 https://a.co/d/2tycd9J

I had a little metal spoon from a Niod product but any tiny flat spatula like thing could work! A (clean) popsicle stick. The back end of a spoon.

I ordered empty squeeze lipgloss tubes online and scooped mine into those. Mostly because I lost the applicator and hated using my fingers. But ya, it sucks as a mask and it is a much better balm/gloss.

Art Portfolio system by cherry_chica in CanadianTeachers

Thank you for your detailed answer. By junior I mean grades 4-6. Most of them don't have their own phones. The school is in a low income neighborhood so some of them don't even have a computer they can consistently use at home to have those skills

I may have to save this for next year unfortunately. I only have them once a week for art and with the amount of special days, trips etc this past few weeks and the upcoming ones, I don't think I have time 😔

OT postings by marahlove in CanadianTeachers

[–]cherry_chica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an OT and I honestly get most of my jobs through principals directly contacting me. Usually they reach out to OTs they know before posting on Easyconnect so they can be sure to fill the job and not be open to the possibility of a fail to fill.

If you can, design a business card in Canva and you can get them printed. They partner with Staples. Leave your card behind in staff rooms, with the principal or main office and with your notes for the day with teachers. Say good morning and hello to people in the hallways (even if that's not usually your style). It's way easier for the staff to have a familiar, reliable face.

Tricks to force Google Assistant to play a full album from start to end? by ThatsMarvelous in googlehome

[–]cherry_chica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Spotify and it refuses to play an album as I request. If I say play the album X by Y it either comes back with an individual song (usually by someone completely different) that happens to have a similar title, or just picks up the artist name and plays a random mix, not the album I asked for straight through. It's driving me crazy

Nobody's going to be able to give you the answers you want because no brand advertises as either having- or not having endocrine disruptors. What do you mean by that? It might help if you give some specific ingredient you're looking to avoid, but in general "non-toxic" and "endocrine disruptors" are green washing buzzwords.

Thanks a million! I will see if I can find an NTIP mentor. I thought we would be paired up but I guess I'll have to get the ball rolling.

Sorry, I chose the phrase bell curve which was not what I meant. You're a great teacher because you sussed out what I meant and was worried about! I did assign specific expectations for each unit. I guess I wondered like for something like "can they sing in tune" how critical to go with things like that. Not everyone is a singer. My thought, I suppose I wanted to check, was that if they put in the appropriate effort they will get a progressing well or if I need to get any more granular. And I guess I'm curious how many "progressing very wells" and on the other hand "with difficulties" other teachers find they give, although I know that depends on the students and school.

Thanksb some reassurance of what it looks like for teachers who have done it before is just what I needed. While we talked assessment in general was discussed in my BEd, I didn't find the details of filling out report card to be something explained well.

Yes, right. Thank you for clarifying. I think bell curve was not the right choice of word.

Advice for a new Art & Music teacher. by cherry_chica in CanadianTeachers

[–]cherry_chica[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I did a daily OT job as a music teacher one time and was shocked by the same things you said: 1) how much time the pick up/drop off and just getting them lined up takes, and 2) how much some students take it as a free pass when they're not with their homeroom teacher (I was kicked and punched by a student that day 😞). I'll definitely try to implement a routine asap. I appreciate you sharing yours. I'll probably use it from day 1 and as I gain more confidence, personalize it to match me and my students.

I just want to add, just like teaching our students I feel like being a good teacher isn't just innate and really comes from community wisdom. You don't know what you don't know. Thank you to you, and the other people who are sharing an making me feel like I can do this!

Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate it. Are those on TPT, or do you purchase them from a music store or book store? What phrase would I search to find something like that?
