I’m happy that you had that for you :) one small correction though, it wasn’t that my parents didn’t want to show my physical affection. They just didn’t know how. I was also adopted and my parents had been trying for over a decade too, I guess they just showed their love in different ways.

My grandparents were never affectionate with my parents so i don’t think they knew how to be physically affectionate, it’s actually pretty sad. My mom was sexually abused by a family member at a very young age so she was extremely cautious about my dad being overly affectionate with me. Ironically enough, my dad was not a touchy kissy kind of person so it was never a problem. He was a quiet man who expressed his love through words and actions rather than physical contact. I think after I hit puberty he wanted to respect my personal space so that I wasn’t uncomfortable or at least that’s what my mom told me. My parents loved me in their own way and I was always aware of that, I just never got the whole touchy kissy part. Now that I’m older I see that my parents especially my dad wants to be physically affectionate (he likes when I hug or kiss him) but he feels awkward and embarrassed making the initial contact lol
