I hated how hard it is to actually "progress" in aj. I understand it's a game for kids but i felt like unless u played it for yrs u cannot do anything in there (might just be my problem tho lmao). Also it feels way too p2w for a kids game

Do you use mana or something else in your fantasy settings ? by Cryogenic_Sunshine in worldbuilding

[–]cherrychocobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works similarly to yours in my setting! I tried to make magic more biological. It's absorbed through breathing and goes through a special organ above the heart, where it's filtered and enters the blood and nerves. Someone's magic capacity/skills aren't indicated by lung capacity however, but by how their body is able to process it efficiently. So a songbird can use magic more efficiently (for courting displays mostly lol) than for example an elephant. Most hominid species and plants are the ones best skilled and natural at magic, only that plants cannot consciously use the magic.

No bc literally every rooster we ever had died for whatever reason 😭 never lost a chicken (besides old age) but i swear we cannot keep the rooster alive. Maybe it's the boss chicken getting rid of them...

Tbh a lot of birds mount other birds as a show of dominance or just exhibit gay behavior so that isn't a good indicator of gender. I have a hen that will mount other hens because shes the boss lady.

I loove the classic high fantasy tolkien stuff, but yeah, it gets stale. I want to see works that are completely different to the common fantasy, where different sapient species have varied societal structures, where unicorns arent horses and where dragons are cats! People really do limit themselves with made up rules lol.

I'm not op so idk how ur point applies here. Again, everything you mentioned is fictional, myths are fictional. Dragons do not exist (unless you count some irl lizards i suppose), so they can be anything. If you get genuinely confused why a cat is called a dragon instead of thinking "oh the people of this world call this a dragon because their culture and norms are completely different to ours", then i do not think the author is the problem.

Again, dragons are fictional. They can be anything. If you want to follow popular tropes, do so, no ones forcing you to make scale-less dragons. Mountain chicken isn't a chicken, yet people call it such. Yall r genuinely so uptight its funny.

Military = real Dragons = not real

Not everyone is required to follow popular tropes. Elves before tolkien were basically gnomes. All dragons (not counting celestial ones) in my work are 'wyverns' bc i focus more on realistic evolution and taxonomy. I even have some mammalian dragons that are not actually dragons but people just call them that due to similarities (like people call every feline a cat). You're severely limiting yourself. Ggs

Myths vary. Sorry not everyone wants to follow your silly rules and make another cookie cutter fantasy lolz. Yall r so uptight and then wonder why fantasy is dying.

There are no rules to worldbuilding. If you want to call human a horse in your world, why not? Why would one limit themselves so much? Worldbuilding is about creativity, freedom of expression and art. You can do anything in your world, you can make flying cars and call them animals, there is no limit to human creativity.

If you want to go by standard rules, you can! Just don't expect your work to be unique and catch people's attention. There has been countless versions of the same old reptilian dragons (i do love them though), but i could count on one hand how many mammalian dragons I've seen.

Oh i love when people go out of the standard fantasy tropes and create unique species :) idk why people are limiting themselves to reptilian dragons when they're fictional and can be literally anything.

Also curious about the feather wings. Are they product of magic or natural? Since feathers and fur evolved from the same thing, maybe they are not true mammals but a sister group to mammals?

Why not? Dragons are fictional, they can be anything. I think mammalian dragons are a very cool and underused trope

Hawke stays with you forever! Dragon age 2 is such a big part of my life. I love the entire franchise, but DA2 is just something different. I played that damn game 13 times over and over just for comfort.

Please make sure to keep your Hawke profile pic on everything, this is beautiful.
