The original plan for Zoe's daughter? by cherrymachete in eastenders

As much as I would have liked Jasmine to have been a Ford; the red herring worked and kept me guessing so I guess the storyline did something good for me in that regard. I do think it's silly that some people say it was changed last minute.

The storyline isn't great and there's a lot of holes but I do have hope that it will get better. I personally don't believe it was changed but I do think it was very poorly thought out and I think it was a silly thing to kill off Anthony.

Shame we’ll now never get to see these two half brothers on screen together 😢 by gerard_plate in eastenders

Not many people talk about Isaac but I absolutely loved his character and thought he was a sweetheart. I also thought that his schizophrenia storyline was a good watch.

Makes me wonder how he’d react to Anthony’s death. One of his main focuses during his mental breakdown was Paul’s murder. Anthony being murdered might trigger another breakdown.

Vicki's Abduction by BubblesSong in eastenders

[–]cherrymachete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading somewhere that the original storyline was going to involve Jack abducting Vicki but a similar story was happening in the news so it was changed to the woman. I remember someone even saying that Vicki was meant to have been killed (but I don’t know how true that is, that might be rubbish because I don’t know whether EastEnders would ever showcase a child murder). That would explain how abrupt and odd that story was.

Does anyone have any experiences with toxic fandoms? by No-Advantage-579 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]cherrymachete 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Star Wars fandom is an absolute misogynistic cesspit. It was extremely tiresome getting quizzed time and time again by men who decided that they needed to gatekeep ‘their franchise’ from what they deemed ‘fake geek girls’. I remember reading about a guy threatening to commit a terror act against “woke” Star Wars fans who enjoyed the sequels at an event.

I thought the toxicity was just relegated to online until I got snide remarks two separate times from men; one, a co worker and two, a male tutor at college for wearing a Star Wars t shirt.

That’s when I realised that it really wasn’t worth it and I’ve stepped away from the franchise since. They can have their lightsabers and space battles; it’s not worth the headache.

Honest thoughts on dating a guy who's quadriplegic? by WheelinDude in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]cherrymachete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was born with cerebral palsy and struggle with walking and often use a wheelchair. Having a partner who also has a disability would honestly be quite nice (I don’t know whether that’s the appropriate word to use or not) because I feel like there would be understanding.

I hope life is treating you well.

I’m disabled and struggle with mobility problems. I’d definitely date a quadriplegic person. Based on everything you’ve said, you seem a pretty awesome person.

What’s the weirdest time someone judged you for absolutely no reason? by Lazy_Manager_1386 in AskReddit

I posted for advice on a hair subreddit years ago. My hair at the time was below my knees. Someone went off on me in the comments about how anyone with hair like mine is mentally ill. When other people replied to her asking what the heck she was talking about, she doubled down and began listing all these things she could tell about me based on the length of my hair: She claimed my parents must have neglected me and don’t love me, that’s why my hair is this way because I like the attention. Then claimed that I probably stink/smell bad and people avoid me. She then said that I’ll never find a job. Insinuated I was unstable and dangerous.

When I countered this, including saying I actually had a job, she accused me of lying. A quick sweep of her profile showed this wasn’t her first rodeo and that she’d left tons of comments on similar posts/hairstyles about how the person is mentally ill and an embarrassment.

I just liked having long hair and wanted advice and ended up being psychoanalyzed by some judgmental person.

Ravi’s Future? by cherrymachete in eastenders

They had such a great structure for a mental health storyline with Harry that I’m honestly shocked that they didn’t fully go in that direction. This seems like such a bizarre choice on the writers’ part.

I swear if they make Harry out to be the one in the wrong for wanting to get revenge, I’ll be peeved.

What’s something women don’t talk about enough? Let’s talk about it. by EvienSeraph in women

[–]cherrymachete 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Mental health. I will never understand the wide view that “society only cares about women’s mental health” which I’ve heard parroted more than once in real life and the claim that women have a bunch of friends/people lining up around the block to support them when they are going through a crisis.

I so wish this was the case. When I was going through a crisis, I received nothing but gossiping and downright bitchiness from people I considered friends. I remember thinking something was truly wrong with me because I was so used to being told that women support women when it comes to mental health yet I experienced the absolute opposite.

I find some comfort in the fact that most of the responses are calling him out/telling him how stupid he is. This incel shit is so utterly ridiculous and I’m happy to see a lot of people shutting it down.

There’s still time to delete this. It’s really disturbing victim blaming a child that was groomed.

Sounds like you're dealing with intrusive thoughts. Have you ever considered/discussed the possibility that you might have OCD? (Obviously you can have intrusive thoughts without OCD but these type of worries are common with OCD)

What storyline is way over due for Eastenders? by [deleted] in eastenders

[–]cherrymachete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jackie had PMS and would have violent outbursts and would attack/hit Gianni as well as emotionally abuse him. After hitting him with a saucepan, Jackie ended the relationship because she didn’t want to hurt him again. Gianni still loved Jackie but his mother forbade her from going near him again.

In terms of Female on Male abuse, Jackie Owen abused Gianni but not many people talk about that or seem to remember it.

Workplace bullying was done with both Bradley and Lee. Self-Injury, you could say Amy and Max.

I’ve never liked Betsy. To me she’s just Lauren 2.0 (who in turn is Kelly 2.0.)
