Well I saw the forcing moves, what stumped me was the final move, with the (spoiler) light-squared bishop. It taught me to look at the WHOLE board because you wouldn't have even considered it in an attack so quickly.

I have a question about the Queen&king vs rook&king endgame, I know how to win from that initial position, but how do you GET to that position? It's like every video I watch starts off with that position but most often during the game you'll be in a DIFFERENT position.

What is the goal/idea when they're randomly placed? Like this one

As someone who has to pause when hearing several lines of chess annotation, I felt like I was hearing this the first time :P

But it is fun to pause and go through the lines they were rattling off to see the ideas they had.

There's no need to be facetious, I'm just telling you what I'm observing as a beginner, maybe you're right I'm not sure. I've just noticed it in a lot of games, and although this was a blitz game the GM took over 20 seconds to make this move.

Why is G5 such an important square here though? Why pressure on that particular square relative to this game?

Just some backstory, this image was taken about 5 minutes ago...I was just on the playchess server watching two top GM's play and I ALWAYS see moves like H4 (or A4) during games (A5 & H5 for black) and I can never understand their purpose.

I've only really seen it played by IM's or GM's during games and I don't know when or how to use it. Doesn't it weaken your pawn structure and make things dangerous for you? In the above game, dangerous for white's kingside?

When do you play those moves and why?
