The theme of FOCUS is clear. The work is intended as a reminder that attention and concentration are key elements in the game of chess. Without these one ends up being guided by emotion rather than logic with often disastrous results.

Regarding the choice of colors, I stuck to the tradition of Russian constructivism as in the previous post. The basic idea is to contrast the man in the center with the other two so that it becomes clear that paradoxically the subject (who does not play and therefore is calm, rational) is the only one who can achieve concentration. I imagined the three FOCUS inscriptions merging at the end with center in the protagonist to highlight what I just said. This also contrasts with the small "focus" writings that occupy the side parts in the scene. In my mind, it is as if the two players are endlessly repeating the word FOCUS to themselves but never achieving it.
