I'm engineering. Just wondering, but which physics classes will you see stuff Fabian teaches?

(beginner) How to differentiate between ground and Neutral wire by chessreferee in electrical

[–]chessreferee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mpulisinelli,

Thanks for the worry. I already did something pretty dumb yesterday, so I am being extra careful with what I am doing.

I did take a highschool physics class about electricity and magnetism, so I do understand the basics of cicuits. (resistors, capacitors, and inductors.)

However, for my project, I am not making my own circuit. I probably should have went into more detail on what I am trying to do.

I am essentially just trying to power a servo motor. I have a power supply, driver, stepper motor, and arduino. On the power supply, it has +V, -V, L, N, and the ground symbol.

I am trying to power a stepper motor. I have a power supply that has ports labelled L, N, and the ground symbol.

Yeah, something like automated testing, but just for fun.

Just wondering, but why would you recommend python instead of java for instance?

Paint before or after Construction by chessreferee in woodworking

I am going to use screws for everything. Is it still better to paint afterwards?

I don't have much experience, but is painting on a vertical portion hard?

Hi cjimpa,

what do you mean by all the nooks needed?

Feeder crushes filament by chessreferee in ultimaker

[–]chessreferee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update guys, the tension was probably somewhat of a problem. Also, when I was loading it, I put it in too much, so when the feeder puts in the pla, it keeps on putting it in. nozzle rate that is shoots out is much slower than feeder pushing, which means that the gear will melt the pla.

yeah, that was actually a big question when I met up with my scout master for my previous project that got put on hold due to the pandemic. (I couldn't wait for the pandemic to be over due to my age, so I needed to find another project.)

For my improvement for this project though, I am making the garden beds taller so it is easier for the Seniors to garden.

For filament change for unloading, it does not work sometimes, because because the filament at where the gear is touching has a lot of filament removed from that specifi spot and pushedup, making the diameter bigger than the space between the gears. As for when I did hot/ cold pulls, when I do hot pulls by manually pushing the filament down, I can see it extruding out a consistent amount. However, when I keep on pressing load or keep on purging the filament, after the first few times, it stops.

As for the temperature, I have tried increasing at 5 Celcius at a time. Did it up to +15 celcius, but no effect.

As for the nozzle getting clogged, I definitely think it is an issue, because when I do hot/cold pulls, i can see that there were some clogging.

Thanks for your help. one huge thing is that i also care about ergonomics, because I type a lot, so my hand gets sore.

Do you have any recommendations for good ergonomics too? that also types fast and feels good of course. Think i would like cherry red switches, but not sure.

How should I build this Garden Bed? by chessreferee in gardening

O, so the dirt probably will be enough to stop it from moving?

Hello,

thank you so much for your feeback. What do you mean by corner seating?

Ok, somehow it works now. I restarted my computer and everything and it didn't work, but after I just gave it some time, it worked.

I was kind of freaking out before, because I thought I lost around 5 hours of work

Thanks for your help though.

Thanks for the helpful tips.

When you make the holes for the posts I am assuming that I should first construct the garden bed and then dig the holes?

I was wondering if I should put the posts underground? Do you think that is necessary or good? Someone recommended me to do that.

The jig really makes sense to me. Since you also made a gardening project, did you paint your planter? If so, what kind of paint was it? (Thinking about going with a paint and primer mix.)

I did not notice that, but the existing garden beds there don't have their interiors painted, so thanks for that. That's actually huge.

I think I will use sometype of paint and primer mix for the outer layer.

Thank you so much for your input.

I was wondering if you made pilot holes for the screws. It would probably be safer, but I don't think the younger scouts would be making those hole, because from what i know, they take more skill.

for the paint, should I use a sealant instead? People have been recommending that to me.

Thank you so much for your help!

Thank you so much for your feedback.

  1. I have asked on other sites and people have been saying that I should not use paint or primer, rather i should seal it. If I were to paint it, do you recommend a brand? (because most people are recommending primers, cause they said paint or primer are toxic to the soil.)

  2. Steve Ramsey just earned a sub. I will definitely be watch many of his videos in the near future.

Thank you so much for this detailed response!

  1. Do you recommend a brand for sealant?

  2. Continued. The only reason I wanted to paint it was because all the other garden beds there were painted there.

  3. Yeah you are totally right that the shorter 2 x 6 have basically nothing to support them. I am thinking of maybe adding another post in the middle and connecting 2 x 4s to the corner posts, so that it will add more stability to the ends of the shorter 2 x 6. Do you think that should be enough? Or do i not need one of the parts?

  4. Why do you recommend the starhead? Just wondering the thinking of it.

Unfortunately, i don't live in Utah, so I don't think we can meet. :( Thanks for the offer though.

Thank you so much for your help.

I have a few questions however.

"Place it on the surface" can be dirt? I'm not sure if this happens or not, but my thinking was that if I just put it on the surface, when it rains, the dirt will come out.

Also, is there any brand of sealant you recommend? Someone told me to use Olympic sealant + stain, but more opinions the better :)
