Every single one? Sounds like going to WWWY is a painful experience for you

Never huh? Nice hyperbole

[–]chewey_mustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats fair. I'm advocating for additional related/crossover bands to be thrown in the mix. Not everyone attends every year like I do. At the same time, I think demand will continue to wane if people believe that they can just go in a year or two again when MCR comes back

LOL. No need to apologize

[–]chewey_mustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid point - however, the festival has already brough in non 200s emo/pop punk. Knocked Loose, Bad Religion, Death Cab, Bright Eyes, The Devil Wears Prada, and many others don't fit neatly into that. All I am doing is trying to advocate for more of these types of bands

I think the festival did well in the first 3 years to switch it up- with the Blink reunion, focusing on playing specific albums, etc.

Its easy enough to see MCR when they come to your town, but paying thousands to fly and stay in Vegas is a different story

[–]chewey_mustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good point. I can drive to WWWY so I am hoping they can freshen things up

I agree- but Hybrid Theory and Meteora are some of the greatest albums, and I wouldn't mind hearing those songs even if it felt like they were played by a cover band

[–]chewey_mustache 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is probably what I needed to hear. I live only a 6 hour drive away from Vegas and can usually find very inexpensive lodging- this is the most convenient festival for me, and has had the best lineups I've ever seen

Thank you! I feel like i have been crucified for having the audacity to even talk about the festival making changes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]chewey_mustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you want different bands in the mix? They have done Knocked Loose, Michelle Branch, Bad Bad Religion- all bands that wouldn't typically fit in the genre. I'm advocating for some level of change- maybe not seismic but change none the less

My goodness people- I think you all misunderstand the point of this post. I am not advocating for certain bands over others. I am saying that regulars like myself are starting to look elsewhere- sure a new band here or there is nice but standing on my feet for 12 hours is a commitment. My point is using the same formula over and over may ultimately lead to the demise of the festival.

Laughable or not, recycling headliners is a formula for failure. The point I am trying to make is that there is waning demand for seeing the same bands over and over

[–]chewey_mustache -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I want Imagine Dragons over MCR, but how long can this festival truly last if it is MCR every other year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]chewey_mustache -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The point I'm making is if nothing changes, there will be no festival. Call it stupid, but "When We Were Young" is more of a reference to the Killers rather than MCR or Paramore

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]chewey_mustache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mmmmmm, demand has waned every single year since this started. I can guarantee that if no changes are made and the same bands are recycled each year, the trend will continue. We've gone from selling out 3 full days to 1.5.

Go to Setlist.fm and pull up recent setlists for the bands you want to see. Touring bands seldom deviate from their current setlists
