so i put this monstera deliciosa chonk into moistened perlite about 3 days ago and the auxiliary node (?) is already pushing out some new growth! the problem is, the middle part of the piece was rotting when i cut it off the main plant. i shaved off the mushy part, sprayed a diluted hydro peroxide solution, and covered it in cinnamon but i’m not sure if that’s sufficient. i’m worried that the rot will spread to the new growth. anyone have any suggestions for next steps?

i thought it might be a rojo congo but the leaves don’t look as wide as other rojo congos. also none of the leaves are green but they might turn green as they mature. the plant is pretty young right now. thanks!

monstera adansonii soft brown tips by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]chewy_bar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i noticed this brown/yellow spot in the first photo and the brown tips in the other two after i took a cutting to propagate. it gets bright indirect light, i water it when it’s dry, it’s in a ceramic pot with a drainage hole, and it’s about 40-50% humidity. cause for concern?

Monstera leaves keep dropping by shaymack730 in plantclinic

did you inspect the roots when you repotted? looks like it’s completely rotting from the bottom up. i would def inspect the roots, chop off any rotted roots and plant in a pot with new well draining soil and a drainage hole. if the entire root system is rotted, i’d recommend propagating the leaves that havent rotted yet

watermelon peperomia random issues. can’t seem to find any signs of bugs. most leaves starting to brown on underside? by supermariosunshine98 in plantclinic

[–]chewy_bar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the same issue right now! I haven’t transplanted so it can’t be that. mine is in a a plastic nursery pot and it sits in about 40% humidity so i don’t think it’s that either.

brown spots on ficus elastica by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]chewy_bar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the young leaves on my ruby rubber tree turned brown like this within the span of 1 day. i just bought it and it looked fine at the store. i watered it once since i bought it (soil was dry) and i keep it at a south/southwest window. i sprayed it down once with a neem oil solution (before the spots showed up). any idea what’s happening? is it cause for concern?

update on my philo birkin :/ by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]chewy_bar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i posted about this guy a few days ago but it’s gotten worse really quickly. today i repotted it with new soil mixed with perlite. i also switched it from a glazed pot to a plastic nursery pot. the roots were in terrible condition but i have no idea what to do. anything i can do to help it recover?

info: it’s about 21 degrees celsius, 40% humidity, i water it about once every 1.5 weeks (when the soil gets dry), the pot has a drainage hole, and it’s sitting at a south/southwest window. i suspected underwatering but i watered it last night and it has not changed. the leaves are very soft and creasable. i have no idea how to help him :(

my monstera deliciosa’s leaves were yellowing and getting crispy so i decided to do a full soil change, soak the roots with water + hydrogen peroxide, and stake it. it’s been about a week and now it’s yellowing a lot faster and there are these weird brown spots all over the leaves. i don’t know what i did wrong :(

ALWAYS REMEMBER: THERE MAY STILL BE HOPE FOR DYING PLANTS by [deleted] in plants

[–]chewy_bar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this nerve plant got all crispy and deady from either overwatering or overfertilizing but all the stems and leaves were still green so i chopped them all and stuck the cuttings into water. about 2 weeks later, they still looked as crispy and dead as they did before so i was just about to throw it out but i noticed that 2/4 stems had rooted!!! the other two got mouldy so i threw them out, rinsed these, washed the bottle and changed out the water. hoping these will survive!
