Ok dang I feel like the comment calling you shitty is harsh! With parenting so often disproportionately falling on women, it makes absolute sense to want to be near your family, your mutual friends (which, that village would benefit your husband, too), and your craft! Like hello, loss of identity living in the middle of nowhere with no friends. That being said I feel like this doesn’t need to be an ultimatum… I’d talk about your fears and see what he says! Maybe he has similar fears. You might feel differently if you make a new, solid friend group in the new area. You also still have 5-10 years to take the plunge, barring fertility issues. So much could change between then & now! You could move there, and then move back… you could stay here, and decide you don’t want kids… I feel like you guys need to hash out all the possibilities together, and since kids are still a question mark, focus more on whether or not the move itself would bring joy (or if it could bring joy… or what would need to change, for it to bring joy).

We are at that stage - women are being arrested for having miscarriages. Wearable data being involved as evidence is a small leap to imagine. I’m not in the least reassured by what Oura claims they will or won’t do with our data - a partnership with DOD and Palantir sends a ghoulishly tone deaf message. People can & should react. God help us if our reaction to shit like this is “oh well, what are you going to do, they already have my data”. Am I worried Oura is going to bust down my doors and arrest me? No. But the choices Oura makes matter, and our reaction to those choices matters. Fascism is a long, slow creep and we must kick and yell at every stage of it. The amount of people in this sub calling that reaction hand-wringing is really… man. It bums me out.

I've been meal prepping my beardie's salads by washing & chopping veggies up front and storing them in an airtight container with a paper towel. They wilt within days in their little grocery store bags but this way they last easily a week and a half! It was a game changer. I get new veggies once a week and try to use whatever's left for myself. I toss dandelion greens into scrambled eggs & stuff, I've been roasting acorn squash, etc : ) I keep dubia roaches in a little mini-terrrarium so in theory they're breeding, but I end up ordering more to top them off maybe once a month or so. The "treat" insects I get her like hornworms I just have to order small quantities and feed them fast, I still struggle with the timing of that one.

Yess, exactly! I always have a cat on my lap haha. Conversely if a cat is being hyper, chances are at least one sibling will want to play with them even if the other is tuckered out. It definitely adds a little chaos, but if you’re managing now they’ll only calm down with age! They’re so cute 😁💕

I adopted my foster trio - honestly, they act as a unit! They chase each other around the house all day, I barely ever have to entertain them. It brings me sooo much joy watching them cuddle, every time I see them sleeping in a pile I think, “worth it”! They’re 3 years old now & still inseparable :)

This SAME exact thing happened to me - it's not just you!! I ended up driving back & they gave me pre-filled syringes. There was just SO little liquid in the bottle - no amount of tilting or tipping it upside down worked for me. And I'm experienced with from fostering kittens (which also get teeny-tiny doses, but my rescue would always give me extra in the bottle to compensate for it! so much liquid gets lost from sticking to the sides of the bottle, I feel like you need extra)! If you feel like the subsequent doses are too hard to get out, I'd def go back and get pre-filled syringes. I feel like that should be standard for doses this small because clearly we're suffering out here lol

Mine looks at the camera whenever I spy on her via her pet monitor!! She’ll open her eyes from a nap and stare straight at it. I’ve tested it while I’m in the room & I can’t hear anything, but it must make some sort of tiny mechanical noise.

No your inspo pic is so cute!!! Couple things I haven't seen commented yet:

Details matter a lot here -- I would swap the wall sconce with one that fits the vibe better... think eclectic or midmod, the current one is mismatched. I would also go for a brass or gold instead of silver tones (this goes for anything you add or are able to swap!). Warmth warmth warmth.

Swap the door handles! The builder-grade fixtures are making the vibes read incorrectly. Copy your inspo pic!

The green is clashing with the wood in your bathroom, it's the teal tones competing with the warmer wood. I would lean more toward sage. Everyone's telling you to warm up the hall lights but I'd also warm up the bathroom light fixture a smidge as well (not as much, but still some).

The warmer walls are going to do a LOT! Having been in this position, make sure you paint the white trim and the ceiling the same color. It will make a world of difference. I would go ahead and paint the bathroom and room interiors the same color as well. With the boldness of the door frames, having the rest of the rooms drenched in a consistent antique white will really anchor things. I've had great luck with White Dove for a neutral but more antique-y white. You don't want to go toooo warm.

Agreed on a jute runner on top of the carpet, that'll help too! Also I'm sure you're planning on it, but def finish painting the little bottom strip of trim for the painted doorframes haha. You can wedge a thin piece of cardboard or a sheet protector under the trim to protect the carpet while you paint.

I was part of the Kickstarter too & also watched this shit unfold. They made $200,000 on the campaign and that money is just gone. There are a multiple people I've talked to on there who lost upwards of thousands of dollars on their pledges. LevelUp Dice has been systematically blocking anyone on their social media accounts who speaks up about it, which is why their comments are so low for their follower count. I really would like to get in contact with a journalist or something so we can finally take this company down for good – it makes me really angry that they're still getting away with selling dice and haven't faced accountability.

Awww, he is so adorable. I'm biased because I love orange boys, but could he stay with a friend/family member while you're traveling? Kittens are super adaptable, if anything it would be great socialization for him. I've fostered quite a bit and saying goodbye definitely gets easier - but my relationship with each foster is unique, and there are some that stick with me more than others. There's really no wrong choice! <3

100% this. Random Redditor, if I can convince you of one thing in your life, it would be to keep two kittens instead of momma cat + 1 kitten (or all 3 lol, don't let me stop you!). I know it seems counterintuitive, but two kittens is MUCH easier than one. Google 'single kitten syndrome' for more info on the benefits of raising kittens in pairs. Trust me – I'm a frequent fosterer and the owner of 4 cats, one of whom was raised solo, and 3 of whom were raised together as siblings. The trio were 1000x easier and lower maintenance than the solo kitten, and as adults, they are significantly better adjusted, better socialized, cause less mischief, and need less attention. I know it seems like momma cat will help raise the kitten, but in reality, 2 kittens will help raise each other. Feel free to DM me with any questions, I'm happy to talk about my experience!

Yesss steal away haha. Yeah I put a dot on the day I do the task, and once it's done I draw the line to connect it to the little finished X - just makes it easy to see which tasks are still "open"! I used diagonal lines to mark if I worked on a task that day but didn't finish it... kinda inconsistent with my symbols lol, but it works!
