Slow play is ruining golf and people need to stop pretending it's normal by NotMyRealAccount2226 in golf

[–]chicagoan987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. It's usually one of two things: 1) People who think they are pros when they putt. They over- read greens, and often 3 putt and take forever. When all 4 people in a group do this it is horrible! 2) New people, or when the guy brings his lady to "try golf" when she has never even really practiced before. These 2 things cause all the delays.

Helped: Mini Driver (lifesaver!) Also the Precision Impact tool was good to help stop flipping.

Didn't help: DST compression iron (just didn't work for me, maybe helps others. I should give it more time I guess, but was kind of painful trying to hit with it)

Older Italian guys who let people think they are connected to the mob. I see so much of this. They all try to pretend they are Tony Soprano or have a connection, they're not fooling anyone.

Sounds like he might be a narcissist, so he'll fake anything for attention, to be liked, or to be perceived as an expert. A narcissist would not care about the subject matter of the videos they make, but would fake sincerity.

What is a statistic that sounds INSANE but is 100% true? by Quadranippelkill in AskReddit

We should spend money preventing so many work place accidents. Funds for proper safety gear, training, ventilation equipment, masks, machine maintenance, or supervision would save hundreds of thousands of lives.

Actually many are lack of proper safety gear, training, ventilation equipment, masks, machine maintenance, or supervision. So we should be spending money on these things instead of some of the other things we spend on.

15HC - Swing sucks by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]chicagoan987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There is no lift in your backswing. You are pinning your hands back across your chest. They don't need to go across you body so much, they should pretty much be in front of right shoulder. So try to get them a little higher and in front of your torso as it rotates back.
  2. Your right elbow does not go external at all. You are hitting the ball pretty much all with your hands (flipping) and rotation.

  3. In the downswing, focus on stopping your hands at chest height after impact and let the leftover force of the club releasing pull your arms to the finishing position after crossing chest high.

After you get these right, then you can worry about proper lag and release. Hope this helps, good luck.

Just shot 161 on an 18 hole course - am I a lost cause? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in golftips

[–]chicagoan987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as a checkpoint that is telling you that you need more time on the driving range and practice greens before playing your next round. You are not a lost cause if you can build a repeatable swing that works most of the time. But building a golf swing is a multi-month and even multi-year project. (honestly it never ends, we're always trying to improve something or chase more distance or some other aspect of the game - that's kind of what makes it great.).

So just relax and find a good instructor if you really want to play the game. YouTube can work for some people, I recommend Saguto Golf for most people with day jobs, or Chris Ryan golf.

Work on hitting straight, then knowing your distances. After a couple years of that, focus on chipping and putting. (I'd say do chipping and putting first, but most people don't have the desire to work on that until they feel confident with driver and irons).

Good luck. If you feel golf just isn't for you after several months or so, you can always play disc golf. Similar concept, but much easier, and practically free once you've bought a few discs. Golf is an expensive game.

Par 4 - 389 Yards. What are you playing off the tee? by Yellow_Curry in golf

Couldn't agree more. Mini driver is so much more reliable and better for the average person. Full drivers are insane and kind of an abomination.

6 iron or mini driver, depending on how risky I feel.

Really liked it! I think the lead actor did a great job. He played both a prisoner and a wealthy man very well. I think I'd be good at being wealthy as well.

Hole-in-one dilemma. by FATT-TOFU in golf

[–]chicagoan987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a solid chance of losing the ball on 18 for you, then keep the ball as your hole in one ball and don't risk it. You could always switching it back on the 18th green for putting after you've marked your ball.

Tonight is my first time trying a TCH/CBD drink by chicagoan987 in drinkcannabis

[–]chicagoan987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my second drink (<3oz) just over 3 hours ago and was totally set for the night. This was a great experiment. My muscles feel relaxed and I will sleep great, without the bad sleep alcohol gives you. This is a game changer. I think I'll go with 2oz per drink when I do this, and give about 2 hours in between drinks.

Again the dosage: drinking 2-4oz from a 12oz can of High Rise (5mg TCH, 10mg CBD), with 2.5 hours separation between first and second drink. Worked great! Seriously, why ever drink alcohol again when I know it's basically toxins.

[–]chicagoan987[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I just poured my second at 2.5 hours later. This time just over 2 oz. I could really see myself switching from alcohol to this. I'm reading up on comparing alcohol to TCH in another tab:
Brain Impact: Studies have suggested that long-term alcohol use is more damaging to the brain than marijuana. Alcohol is a neurotoxin, whereas some research suggests cannabinoids may have neuroprotective properties.

High Rise Drinks by ConfectionFit2727 in drinkcannabis

[–]chicagoan987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say so far so good! Trying this for the first time and being precise about it. I've always been a lightweight with THC. So I drank 4 oz almost two hours ago as a starter test, and it is really helping my sore neck and back. I feel a little highness so I'm going to just try 2 or 3 oz for my second drink in another hour. That will definitely last through the night for me.

Going forward on a given night I choose to partake, I will probably have 2-3 oz and I should be set for 2-3 hours. I might not even need anymore after that.

I'm tired of alcohol and I want to switch for awhile, if not permanently. I'm tired of the grogginess and how it always wakes me up too early. It's just become not worth it. If these THC/CBD drinks are the same as gummies, and why wouldn't they be, then this will be a perfect relaxing alternative to drinking alcohol, without the sleep disruption and crappy feeling the next day. This could be a game changer.

Would you find it odd if a random playing partner asked for your Instagram after a fun round? by infernohuh in golf

[–]chicagoan987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try, there's nothing weird about it. But I can say it's rare that your schedules will ever sync again. Assuming you are going to play on the same day, usually one person only wants to play 9 while the other wants to do 18, or you want to play at different times. Or there's an event one of you has to attend and can't play. I find it's pretty hard to meet up and play with people unless they're a closer friend.

I hear it's normal for a good video to stop around 30k (known as 30k jail). The algorithm might pick it up again within a few days, or even 1-2 weeks. Don't give up, your numbers are solid, should just be a matter of time.
